Topic: bathroom freshener?

You know, for when you have lots of guests and you need to keep things pleasant in there ... what is the most effective method and scent to get the job done? Aside from sprays. I'm wondering about things that do the job without a spray can.http://www.fragrantica.com/board/richedit/smileys/YahooIM/104.gif

It's funny how some people constantly affirm their disdain for gourmand notes, as though enjoying them is some sort of character flaw. :D

Re: bathroom freshener?

Use electric diffusers from your preferred brand. They last all month.

Thank you, good suggestion!

Re: bathroom freshener?

There's all sorts you can use. A nicely scented soap will perfume the whole room, no problem, otherwise you could have reeds as they're very en vogue with limitless scent variations, or the good old fashioned potpourri (there must be some nice ones on the market).

Re: bathroom freshener?

I think a scented candle is a nice way to scent your bathroom.

air wick has great products.the ones which are in kinda jam bottles are great.they have a mesh to the scented aqua and they make your bathroom scented for at least 2 months.

I use my mistakes (bottles of perfumes that I bought but dislike to wear) as bathroom fresheners. The air smells good and the bottle looks very impressive on the shelf.

(To take this one step further, money is saved by not spending it in a drugstore for any air freshener.   This non-spent money can be saved in a special envelope and used towards the purchase of another gorgeous perfume ...)

Good one!http://www.fragrantica.com/board/img/smilies/applause.gif

Plus, they say when couples use separate bathrooms it helps keep the romance alive!

(for obvious reasons, right?)

there's a tv ad running these days here (and I can't remember the product!) where they say, "it's time to get honest about what goes on in the bathroom."

Right??

OK, ok, I need to stop before I start sounding like a 10 year old boy!

Re: bathroom freshener?

http://www.fragrantica.com/board/img/smilies/gloria.gif Yatagan by Caron  :  the 'dirty' notes absorb the 'bathroom' smells in an instant and in no time what is left is the herbal/artemisia/natural green notes in the air. love it !

I love those opening notes and yet cannot wear this (too strong/butch) fragrance - so this way I can still enjoy it - and get compliments on how lovely my bathroom smells !

the number of sprays/price ratio is also good - and the alcohol works as a desinfectant..
win/win glad

I find that picture very interesting - we have no plug sockets in bathrooms in the UK!

Re: bathroom freshener?

I quite like the avon room sprays for the bathroom.  Sometimes I use those jars of oils with the wicks that look like spills of wood.

Re: bathroom freshener?

Reed diffusers work nice as well. And they look pretty, too.

A strongly scented soap would be nice as well.

I am not a fan Air Wick and stuff like that because they mostly smell totally fake....JMO.

Re: bathroom freshener?

Candymarie......for a really natural freshener try this:

Cut an orange, a lemon, and a grapefruit in half.  Scrap out the pulp and fill each half with pure table salt. Put on a small tray and leave in the bathroom for a day or two.  Smells nice and no chemicals.

The impermanence of life is what makes it so very precious. Carpe Noctem!

Right now we are about to finish my gigantic bottle of alfred sung forever.  Then we will move on to something else I want to finish up!

Re: bathroom freshener?

I have one of those battery powered sprayers sitting on my sink counter. It sprays the room once every half hour and it smells like cookies. :3

Re: bathroom freshener?

I only use this kind of multi-action WC freshener; specially these two :

I tried tons of such products, and these are the best. They smell *good*, prevent tartar, and keep the wc clean.
There's also a blue one too; but it smells too *industrial* and *public WC* for my taste.

Back in the 80's, remember Mr. T advices, "believe in yourself, drink your school, stay in drugs, and don't do milk!" or something like that

Re: bathroom freshener?

Thanks for reviving this topic, I hadn't been here in quite a while and missed some good stuff, (and some funny stuff!).

I am going to try RosaMilena's non-chemical citrus rind & salt method - that sounds fantastic and I'm always looking for natural ways to do things.  It's amazing how many home remedies that worked for decades (sometimes centuries) have been replaced by chemical solutions.  For instance, the easiest way to get baked on stains off my bakeware and the inside of the oven?  Baking soda!!

Re: bathroom freshener?

I like these odor sponges. They stay right in the container....just remove the lid. They are not attractive containers, so I set mine behind the base of the toilet on the floor. I also put them in the basement and by the cat box. There are various brands available. They really do the trick.
