Topic: Where can I find a sweet pea essential oil?

Hi, I'm thinking of making some solid perfume on my own and I wonder if any of you out there have a suggestion for where one can find a good essential oil of sweet pea flowers?

I almost remember reading somewhere  that you cannot make essential oil out of sweet pea, so if that is true, is there any reasonably priced oil out there smelling like the flower suitable for perfume making?

I live in Sweden so a European company would be best (in terms of shipping cost and such) but anything will do!

Thanks!

Hi there,

The first place I'd have look at for essential oils would be new age/pagan shops.

I did a search and as for your country I came across to this site which seems worth checking out:

Good Luck in your search,

You are correct that there is no such thing as "essential oil of sweet pea flowers". Your options are to buy a synthetic fragrance oil or try to put something together yourself using natural or synthetic materials.

Same thing goes for amber... there's no such thing as "amber essential oil".

That being said, Mystica has the right idea! I too make my own perfume, except I make mine out of vodkah. The best oils I've found are in those strange and delightful little shops. Good luck with your search and happy perfume making!

Okay. Thank you for your thoughts and recomendations! They are helpful to my search glad

A site called The Perfumer's Apprentice has lots of fragrance oils, including sweet pea: http://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/c-5 … -oils.aspx

I live in Sweden too and I've ordered a perfume making kit from them before. Shipping cost was not too bad, don't know what it would be for just one fragrance oil though.

LaBoheme84, Thank you for the tip! I'll keep looking some more but Perfumer's Aprentice seems like a good choice glad

have you thought about effleurage?, i think i read it can be done on a small scale from home, as long as you have the flowers. I would love to make a stargazer lily scent.

this is a random link I found that outlines about it.

I don't know who effective it is compared with other methods, but when I get round  to it I'm going to give it a try, as I dont like the synthetic residual scent you get with synthetic perfumes.  Essential oils don't always smell like the part of the flower that you want I find, as they often contain extracts from specific parts of the plants only ie. the leaves not the petals etc.

would love to know how you get on if you try making your own scent.
