Topic: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

I personally would never purchase any fragrances made by Anna Sui because I don't like her ingredient combinations and Roberto Cavalli because the bottles are so ugly, I figure the perfume is probably just as bad.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Burberry- most of them smell like baby oil to me. The bottles don't appeal me either.

Thierry Mugler- obviously it's the hype. Plus I'm not into their scents.

Marc Jacobs- all the fragrances are too sweet and generic IMO

Versace- the fashion is great but the fragrances are a no no IMO

Chanel- just don't dig it, I also find all the bottles boring

Vera Wang- her perfume concepts are ridiculous...the bottles look tacky, scents nothing special.

Most celebrities including Britney Spears (I'm a big fan of her music but not the fragrances) Jlo, Paris Hilton.

I agree, Cavalli bottles are ugly and I tried of the scents and it was to gag for  hmm no offense. Everyone has different reactions.

Yup, I guess I'm picky in that aspect.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Playboy.

A true friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

I dare not say "never".... but I have not been able to keep a Dior, so as a result I have stopped buying anymore.  I have been gifted or had purchased in the past, two at best, and had given them away.  Just cannot enjoy something about that house.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Absolutely, and not just A brand. Plenty of them:

- Britney, JLo, Celine Dion, Paris Hilton etc ... 99.9% of zeleb frags to start with. Wouldn't be seen dead wearing that stuff.

- Elisabeth Arden. The devil fume aka "Blue Grass" is the worst thing ever. The rest doesn't appeal at all.

- Harajuku Lovers - No comment

- Yves Rocher - this one, I would not rebuy. Ever. Tried 3 of their fragrances and they all smell cheap and nasty. EDIT: Forgot about their Rose Absolue which is certainly a cut above the rest. Still, won't rebuy since I probably will never finish my bottle anyway.

- Avon. Same as above.

Probably forgetting many more, but you get the gist.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

I will not buy anything by Kim Kardashian because I don't like her at all.  I've never sniffed her perfume and will never. From what I've heard, I'm not missing anything.

The true character of a person is easily seen in the way they treat those who can do nothing for them.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

No, not really.  I have bought some perfumes I thought I would NEVER in a millon years buy and ended up loving them and kicking myself for missing out on great scents!  I am always open to all perfumes/brands!!  28

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

I learned long ago to never say never. To me it's not the brand that matters as much as the scent and how it makes me feel. I wouldn't pass up a beautiful fragrance just because it's a celebrity scent, or not sniff a perfume just because it's sold at the drugstore. I like to keep an open mind - I feel that helps me to experience more out there the world has to offer. glad

And counting.

My point exactly. There are way too many options out there to go for "mediocre".

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Avon. Trash fragrances and the worst thing to have ever happened to a vintage perfume shopper in the USA. it ruins my day every time I see a shitty novelty Avon bottle while digging through vintage stuff.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Anything celebrity.

All good things come to an end...

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

I think this is due to he impressions it has on my skin and my scent preferences i do not intend to directly offend people who may like these scents, it may simply work for you.

Playboy- Smells weird and peppery, i thought playboy bunnies would smell nice but these perfumes are just  usch

calvin Klein- too strong and woody and oriental too overpowering!

Revlon- this comes of smelling really cheap and old on me

Beyonce- her perfumes always miss the mark for me

Hugo Boss for women- smells very masculine

Anna Sui- i get many synthetic notes from anna sui perfumes usch it hits my nose the wrong way

Dior poison editions- i dont know what it is i like it on other people i absolutely hate it on me its smells like mossy wood, i dont get it  dumbom

YSL Opium- bad memories of women tasting of this, i may change my mind when im like 50 but for the moment, i dont like this smell its way too strong and incompatible with my skin

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Vera Wang.  I have actually purchased a few of these (blind) and none of them worked.  I thought I would love princess, but I found it pretty boring.  Then, I stupidly bought princess night.  Didn't work either.  So, I swapped them.  I also tried others in the past, and didn't like them either.  Vera Wang perfumes are a no for me.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

yes, I'd never buy (again) anything THIERRY MUGLER.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Well, I've tried to like Thierry Mugler's stuff and really I just don't like it at all. (sorry Bebette!)  Elizabeth Arden scents - not so much. Kilian... hmmm.. I have quite a few samples and they leave me speechless - not in a good way, either.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Probably Dior... all the frags seem pretty intense and musky - I usually go for fruity and lighter scents.

And maybe also Clinique (unless they have new scents that aren't too soapy) - it sounds pretty clinical to me... :S I have Clinique Happy Heart which I don't seem to use anymore as it's very soapy.

Jo Malone - I like the idea of Jo Malone's frags and I would like to like one of her fragrances, but reading up on the reviews I don't think I would purchase her stuff......unless it comes highly recommended..

To sum it up, the super heavy ones I would never purchase...but I might change my mind one day as tastes change...

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

D&G because even though some of them smell lovely, they don't last more than 20 minutes on my skin and aren't worth the money.

30 No harm done lol this made me smile I needed that! 90+ degrees, tropical storms, and insane humidity levels might change your mind, I know that has a lot to do with my preferences besides body chemistry. There are so many others I wish to love but never seem to work with me or my environment.

-Antony & Cleopatra, William Shakespeare

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Many - Elizabeth Arden (the 2 i've ever had/have were gifts and I've barely used them), JLO, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, Taylor Swift (I'd honestly be too embarrased to tell anyone I was wearing these or any of the other manyyy celeb scents out there). Also - Thierry Mugler frags doesn't seem to suit me atleast from the ones I've tried. Revlon fragrances - they should just stick to make up IMO.

I'm sure there're many others out there but the above ones are just off the top of my head.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

I have not yet clicked with any Annick Goutal,  thin´k they are too mellow...

Be true to yourself !

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

AVON and ESTEE LAUDER - because they switched from non-testing on animals to now testing.

CB I hate perfumes - because of the brand - their concept does not interest me.

THIERRY MUGLER - I dislike Angel.

There are no answers, only choices.  (Stanislav Lem)

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

most celebrity scents, particularly britney & paris hilton. no. no.

most japanese brands kenzo, issey etc don't seem to suit me.

I don't think I'll buy any more avon - I never choose to wear them from my shelf & now I've given them all away.

nothing overtly 'kiddy'

I say!  It's Pimms o'clock.

Re: Is there a brand you would never purchase?

Never say never, I'm keeping my options, even some celebrity fragrances are tempting me from time to time... But I'm not particularly interested in Avon, Oriflame or the like.
