Re: What are the most recommended French Perfumes to buy?

Hi annisa-ayunindya,

I'd would suggest any Caron as well, then Guerlain, Jean Patou and Pierre Balmain (some rare that you can't find in your country)

Re: What are the most recommended French Perfumes to buy?

I'm on a Caron mission myself right now, so I'd go with Caron                   and also Boucheronhttp://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.133.jpg Boucheron Boucheron

If you are a Chanel fan, the pure parfum and elixir are special finds at Chanel boutiques in France. French made are hard find in other places.

Re: What are the most recommended French Perfumes to buy?

Get a Lutens from the exclusive line that they won't ship outside Europe.

All good things come to an end...

Ya know, I've tried to find the exact date of the reformulation, but was unsuccessful. My guess is that Dior would down play this as much as possible. I kept reading how J'adore used to be so memorable, but now it was toned down. I got my gf a bottle last february based on pre reformulation reviews and it's reputation, and were both kinda disappointed. Since then, she got a pre reformulation sample and it is more "powerful" and stands out more in a crowd as a wonderful fragrance. I don't think the new J'adore smells all that different, just less impressionable. New J'adore is a nice fragrance which she wears to work quite often because it is on the subtle side.

Every day I die again and again I'm reborn.

I'd agree with many listed, but I see M. Micallef is missing...

Re: What are the most recommended French Perfumes to buy?

Guerlain for sure. you can find them in Indonesia as weel, but the boutique in Champs ELysees is something to die for. and there, there are some perfumes you cannot find in your country.

Caron, from Parfum Sacrè to Bellodgia to Nocturnes, and Aimez moi and so on...

Jean Patou: Joy!!!

Annick Goutal, her boutiques are special!

Re: What are the most recommended French Perfumes to buy?

you can get the following within asia if you shop on strawberrynet.com (they ship for free and are reliable)

: Serge Lutens, L'Artisan, Diptyque, the newer Guerlains, Chanels, most of YSL (except we don't have EDP Champs Elysees in SE Asia, they seem to only sell that in Europe/Western markets).

if you are looking for parfum extraits of Chanel then you should ask your brother to get them from Paris as they don't have it within SE Asia as far as I can search.

if you are looking for the older Guerlains like Jicky, Chamade, L'Heure Bleue, you can't get them in SE Asia and they are expensive online. Best to get in Paris if you are interested in them.

Other interesting brands that are French and hard to get in Asia/online if you are interested:

Montale

Comptor Sud Pacifique

Caron (older brand but with lovely choices and not too expensive)

I think you might want to research into what you like and see if how difficult it is to get online or within SE Asia. Then decide on what to get in Paris. Have fun!!

I wanted to add Federic Malle which is extremely extremely expensive and only available in Singapore in one store. It is much cheaper in Paris. Worth a try, beautiful quality scents.
