It's like an encyclopedia of people's thoughts on this subject
If it makes the man feel better, then that's great. If he's looking to secure my romantic affections, he might have a tough road ahead of him unless he's a rockstar who has donned a little bit of eyeliner for a performance or just to look badass. That worked for me when I was 19. It might still work for me now that I'm 37. Who knows. The guy would probably have to be a successful rockstar at this point. lol.
I would not judge a man who does it, I respect it.
Rockstars and Jack Sparrow are of course in another category (for me).
However, I prefer that my man leaves that applying-color-to-the-face thing to me. I think I prefer men that have no idea what conditioner is and know no difference between shampoo and shower gel.
I don't want him to be prettier than me!
There was a guy in my high school (art school...) who came to school every morning wearing black eyeshadow and red lipstick, he also had long curly hair... I had a crush on him in my first year, that probably don't count since I'm gay but he was very popular in the school
Honestly? That I might come home and find him wearing my lingerie next.

... good plan of action in my book.
) Am I being too honest? lol
and ontopic- I think wearing makeup as a man is totally alright. And cool!
It's really just a mather of taste... nothing to argue about. For most people men wearing makeup in public are almost like wearing a big sign on their forehead sayin' "gay" (and that's seems invasive cause nobody cares if you are gay or not, no need to state it thru makeup- that's the general opinion). Anyway, I don't believe that's the case...wearing makeup doesn't tell anything about sexual orientation.
Also, a lot of people when they think of men+makeup, the drag queen kind of makeup comes to mind. Another wrong- but understandable- preconception.
...in the end, it all comes to personal preferences. I'm ok with both makeup and no makeup on men...

Like I said in the other thread, it dosen't bother me in the least. I was a teen in the 80's and some of my favorite male bands wore heavy makeup.
I also dated a man who wore makeup. (eye shadow, mascara, lipstick on occasion) I wasn't bothered by it in the least. My partner doesn't wear makeup unless he's doing photoshoots.

That he wants the same thing women want from it - to enhance certain features, disguise others.
I am not typically attracted to men wearing makeup (unless we're talking Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor and Jonathan Rhys Myers in Velvet Goldmine...
) , but I am not bothered by it in the least. To each their own.
My type of man is the rugged type of country boy. He fixes things , goes hiking , and fishing. He is too busy with this sort of thing to worry about too much. The metrosexual thing just left me cold. I guess I am old fashioned.
My guy doesn't, and I probably wouldn't like if he did. As the above member I like his rugged dudeness.
Other guys wearing makeup, I don't really care.

Hello
Another vote for rugged dudeness.

I will say, I have no problem wearing HIS boxers. LOL! Its a personal double standard, and he is ok with it.
I guess it's OK. I share night cream with my fiancee
I know some girls who complain that their boys can't even choose a face cream, I guess there's a part of women that would like him to care more about his appearance... there are women who buys men perfume, there are women who buys them cleansing and moisturizing products, probably most women won't accept an heavy makeup on their man who isn't in a metal band but simple things like using lipbalm maybe yes

I like men to look like men. If he's covering up acne or something else, OK. Mascara might be called for to make the eyes look better, but that's it.
i'm not a fan. i want my man to be male, all male. not be worried about what eyeliner he's going to wear. but, i also have a rugged outdoorsy man and thats the kind i'm attracted to.
men don't wear make up!
gay men wear make up!
i don't have any problem with the guys that choose to wear make up, it's also their choice to date the same sex!
men don't cry... women do!
it's all about labeling and making statements....
who cares anymore?
FREEDOM and that is my statement.

Men = Men Women = Women
I'd think he's beautiful!
Burly professional (American) football players, would probably look bad in makeup, but a lithe, pretty, artistic, or other unique type of man who knows how to wear makeup would look great.
Also, makeup doesn't have to be that noticeable. A little eyeliner ("guyliner" whatever...) and an undereye concealer could look nice on anyone. It's really silly that men aren't allowed to wear makeup but women are practically expected to wear it. I guess most normal straight women wouldn't want their boyfriends wearing it... but any unusual straight man or non-straight man should GO FOR IT.
No way. Ok, well no way for my man. If other dudes wear it, sure whatever. I would think they were gay, or in a band or something, but for me personally, I would never date a man that wore makeup. That's not really my thing. My husband is a super rugged, outdoorsy, "roughin' it" kinda guy and I think he'd rather die than wear makeup! lol
When I go into Sephora or MAC something and they guy is wearing makeup, I really don't mind, as long as he's not like wearing more makeup than me. Then it's a little strange, but to each his own.
I do enjoy a good drag show though, so a man with a full face and a wig does make me laugh on occasion.
If he's not my man, if he's just a friend, I don't care, whatever he's into. But for my mate, it would completely turn me off. Mr. Arcane1 is as rugged as a guy can get, and that's how I like it. But I did ask him... He said "Sure! To raise money for charity, I'd dress up in a pink tutu and wear more makeup than Divine Brown!"
Suddenly I'm thinking he would probably raise millions...

As long as it's not my hubby, I don't really care. However, when I'm putting on makeup, I chase my hubby around the house with my blush stick and he's like "Nooooo!" LOL Btw, Johnny Depp+makeup=hot Just sayin...
