Re: Men who wear Red Door EDP

I think it's just fine.  If they like the scent & wearing it makes them feel good, then that's what it's all about!   rock

I think the main reason perfumes are divided by gender is so that companies can produce more products to try to make more money, which is understandable, of course, but it does result in rigid categories that limit choice.  (unless one is a sophisticated Fragrantican )  gloria

Now, even in the days when this wasn't done, I imagine that some scents were more favored by men or women, but I think our ideas about what smells masculine and feminine are largely cultural.  Even though I truly don't think of smells as being gender specific, I still find myself saying a particular perfume smells, "very feminine", for example!  I don't even know if I know what I mean by that!

It's interesting to me that we don't do this when it comes to food smells; usually we categorize them as good or bad.  I wouldn't walk by a bakery smelling of fresh baked bread and say, "omg, that smells so feminine/masculine", lol

Thank you Oh ! de Parfum....That helped, and your 100% right too...;)

Re: Men who wear Red Door EDP

If one has the panache to match such a bold choice, I think that man is pretty cool!

A realistic rose scent like Red Door isn't that feminine (Voleur des Roses is considered for men, etc) and a feminine retro-classic worn by a man seems right.

Re: Men who wear Red Door EDP

I am a man and I also wear red door often and never anyone told me I am wearing a ladies perfume or that i smell like a woman. What people tell me is that I smell beautiful and I do love it (the scent and the comments). Anyway, as Oh de Parfum enlightenedly said, scents are neither masculine nor feminine and the lack of variety you find amongst commercial masculine scents thanks to fashion prejudices is really disappointing. If one really enjoys scent, you cannot limit your choice to your gender offers. Just go for what you like. This thing of scents gender is from my viewpoint very very silly. Why cannot a man smell of roses or whatever and does have to smell either aquatic or aromatic or fougére, most of these male scents smelling more or less the same? Because of trend patterns and greed. You are just showing that you are freer. In Tunisia, it is the men and not the women who wear orange blossom and jasmine on theris ears so that they smell of those flowers all they long. You see them walk on the street like that. It is all a cultural thing, generated by fashion vanity and greed.

I love DG light blue, women version.I bought a bottle.I spray it when I know that I will be at home for the rest of the day...I just can't wear it to work....it's too recognizable and everyone knows-its for women.... 24

I just think that everyone (not here as I think most people are open minded), out in the "world" and the beauty business should forget about gender when it comes to smells and everything to be honest.  Lets face it, who says that a particular smell is for a man or woman?  They say it, but nowhere in nature are there labels on anything.

I personally would not wear this because I don't like it. However, if you enjoy it please wear it with pride!

Man is perishable, that may be; but let us perish resisting and if nothingness awaits us, don't let us so act that it shall be a just fate.

Re: Men who wear Red Door EDP

I would agree with everything said, I mean perfume changes on everyone's skin so everything you wear is very slightly your own anyway. Also men's pefumes do really lack variety. I don't see how gender matters with perfume, for example I would happily admit I occassionally wear men's perfumes, just as long as you like the smell it shouldn't matter glad
