Hello, Fragranticans!!!!! Help me find a perfume or two (or 10 lol) with

a smoky wood smell. PLZ don't say Donna Karan Black Cashmerehttp://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.495.jpg  because I'm on a tight budget & this juice is $$$$

*I'm aware this may be more of a niche note, but

I have champagne taste on a beer budget, lol  24

(Unisex frags are ok, but don't thk I can do mens, too much projection)

http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.1404.jpg Sarah Jessica Parker Covet You should try SJP Covet - When my sister wears it, it definitely is a nice smoky wood smell.  Cheap enough too!

Thats interesting, i wouldn't think that this would have a smoky wood aroma- oddly enough I have never smelled this, even though its obviously not new. Thanks for the tip  34

It's not smoky, but it's woodsy- http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.427.jpg Jean Paul Gaultier Classique from your want list.

Also, try http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.2459.jpg Mauboussin Mauboussin and http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.15522.jpg Kiehl`s Aromatic Blends: Vanilla & Cedarwood ; they don't smell similar but are "smoky" in their own way.

Come to the dark side! We have perfume!

Thanks whit!  I been really curious about the Maboussin for awhile, I heard really great things about it. also comes highly praised by Luca Turin, so it must at least be very interesting & unique smelling.     45

I find all of these quite smoky/woody, and they are not too expensive IMO. Try and get some samples from Lucky Scent or Surrender to Chance. STC has a search engine where if you type in the note you want (e.g. tea) it will come up with a list of suggestions.

Hope this helps.  45

Good ideas. I'm particularly interested in the blvgari, because their quality is good & I love the smell of various teas. This is on the top of my list to try or maybe blind buy if its affordable enough!  61

I so want to sample all of Jo Malone's ,the combinations sound so intriguing & some sound super exotic to me

Re: Perfume with SMOKY WOOD smell (think Lapsang Souchong Tea)

It's the oud that gives the Jo Malone scent the smoky quality. Oud generally smells smoky.

Re: Perfume with SMOKY WOOD smell (think Lapsang Souchong Tea)

Unfortunately, the only ones I can think of are really expensive.

You're welcome! Mauboussin was a blind buy for me but I've been very happy with it. It is an interesting and unique scent; very warm too! glad

Okay, thanks for the suggestion.  I was intimidated by the fact its unisex

& the black rubber note. I don't want to smell like burnt rubber tires, lol.

Re: Perfume with SMOKY WOOD smell (think Lapsang Souchong Tea)

Best smoke I know is http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.5242.jpg L Artisan Parfumeur Tea for Two

but if you're on budget, try http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.1119.jpg Gucci Gucci Pour Homme II

Both are great in their own way.

The rubber note is actually very soft, not burnt at all, and is more of a top note.

Re: Perfume with SMOKY WOOD smell (think Lapsang Souchong Tea)

Oh okay. Thanks for the insight. I'm sure i can get a mini or possibly try this at

at my local mall.   57  Do you know if this was discontinued or not?

Yes, that's exactly what I was going to say...the rubber smell is only there for a few minutes on me. I like http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.154.jpg Bvlgari Black a lot--I think the drydown is actually pretty feminine, or at least it turns that way on my skin. I'll probably try to pick up a bottle this winter while it's still in Ross and such.
