Topic: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I keep a list of perfumes, organized by the season first, then color-coded by which general situations I would wear that particular fragrance (like office/professional, weekend, with friends, special occasion, romantic day, romantic night.) Note: Some perfumes have more than one color code.

If it's a scent that I don't have, but would like to try, then I put an asterisk next to its name.

I also sometimes add brief comments about the perfumes' qualities, too ("very feminine", "lasts", "layer with...", "very fresh", etc.

I arrange the perfumes that correspond to the current season on a mirrored tray on my dresser, the rest go into the dresser drawer until the season changes.

I always keep a very small size of perfume in my purse.
I like the "rollerball"/"fragrance pen" container.
(For air travel, though, I sometimes look for a solid version of a scent.)

This actually saves me a lot of time and thought about what to wear in the morning!

I also keep a list of the perfumes/scents that my friends/relatives like. It's on a closet shelf where I store gifts for various occasions.

Oh, and my new rule for myself: Use up one fragrance before you buy another!

Very impressive system Bouquet.http://fimgs.net/b/richedit/smileys/Happy/21.gif

I actually have no system; my samples are piled into drawers and my full bottles are crammed into other drawers. I keep telling myself that I am going to come up with a system for organizing them, but instead I end up going online, reading a book, playing with my cats, or watching television instead.http://fimgs.net/b/richedit/smileys/Teasing/4.gif

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I do have lists of which perfumes I want to buy next and it always changes, the fragrances shift forwards and backwards, according to type of scent, and then I made another list according to colour also, which means I should have at least one perfume of each colour bottle in my collection (but I don't), and I try to compromise those two when I decide about next purchase. The looks of bottle matters very much when I buy perfume. I like vintage or older perfumes for this reason also.

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I keep my samples in testtube racks that my husband have taken from his job (not stealing, but they should have been trowed away). And the testtube racks I keep in small boxes in my drawer, trying to put samples from the same house next each other or samples similar to each other (such as gourmand, oriental).

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I don't belive I have a system. I have mine in a tray on top of a cabinet. It keeps them handy, since i always know which perfume I want to wear. My vial samples are in a box and and keep some im my purse for emergencies.

Elgab89, you are definitely an artist. I love that you dream about your scents, even if you might only be kidding us a little.

They live in a drawer with their boxes. Nothing fancy, but it works, as I don't have too many.

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I don't organize THEM, but I do have some lists I try to stick to:

1. My "want" list is organized in an excel file as well. They are in order I've sampled them, there is the price written next to them and the place where can it be purchased. Then there another excel sheet named after the perfume what's first on the list, where I write down how much money have I put in my "perfume piggy", so I know when can I afford it (it's usually 20-30$ per month).

2. All my perfumes are listed in another excel file where they are in random order. It indicates what will I wear. I have no perfume which is not loved by me or at least liked very much, so I just stick to the plan and change perfumes every three days. Therefore all of them are being used. It's easy, cause I don't believe in terms - suitable for work/summer/winter and so on. I just believe in HOW MUCH one should apply for different occasions. If I get a new perfume it goes at the end of the list. Been like that for 2 months now, haven't broken the list and I have always worn what my list says to me, lol.

Works for me perfectly as I hate chaos and picking a perfume every morning! Lists are cool.

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

nice topic http://fimgs.net/b/img/smilies/applause.gif
i write a list of my only 10 (want to buy) perfumes based on how much im on love with that perfume at the moment and if my budget is in crisis i place the $$ at 9 and 10 rank..

2nd there is my test and its looong list i usuallt try 2 or 3 perfumes at once which is confusing

i keep my list in my notebook in my bag all the time who knows there may be fragrance emergency my list should always be with mehttp://fimgs.net/b/img/smilies/tummenupp.gif

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

The only way for me to find a perfume in my collection is by colour. And then it is still quite stressfull finding the right bottle, for example when I have to pack up for a swap.. :-(

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

My full bottles live in their boxes on shelves in my closet, with unboxed bottles lined up in front of them, Minis on perfume trays on another shelf, and samples lined up in drawer organizers stacked in a pretty storage box - quite a production! but no organization other than a database of what I have on hand with descriptions and notes.

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I separate by season first then by my own category of fragrance (spicy, romantic, clean, flirty etc) and last by whether it is a day or night scent.

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I seperate my frags by seasons. Two sides, 1 for spring/summer & the other for fall/winter. That way I wont have to waste to much time pondering what will I wear for that day. http://fimgs.net/b/img/smilies/superglad.png

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

Oh, dear!

I thought I had some organization  --  but my efforts pale in comparison to bouquet's!!

I keep my lovelies in a 3-tiered antique curio.   The top tier holds minis of pure perfume strength.   The middle tier holds minis of "lesser" strengths - EDP and EDT - and 3 crystal goblets that hold sample vials.  The bottom holds full size sprays of any strength.

I suppose they are organized aesthetically. (!)

Never ask a question, if you aren't prepared to hear the answer.

Re: How Do You Organize Your Perfumes?

I take all the Summer fragrances, along with duplicates of the Winter fragrances and put them in sealed cardboard boxes in an unheated bedroom. Perhaps I will be able to keep then longer because they are in a cool to cold area where no light gets to the bottles. I hope this works as I, like most of you, have way toooooo much stuff.

The ones I have not put into hibernation, are kept in a tightly closed cabinet in the bath. Sometimes it is really difficult to find and pull out what I want. I am always knocking over bottles.  Naturally, I put the ones I wear most in the front and the more obscure ones in the back. I also take the tops off frags I am not very fond of and put them on testers I love. I just went through this procedure this morning.

My decants and miniatures are not very available.  I don't really know what to do with them.  HELP!

JAJAJA!
