Visually, they're all perfect, I love them all!  26

But scent-wise (I mean, sniffing the flowers directly):

- Tuberoses

- Gardenias

- Jasmine

and this one called "huele de noche" in Spanish (I'm not sure but think it's "night blooming jasmine") that has a wonderful perfume but only at night and blooms just once a year for like three days:

paulina, thanks for posting that photo of the night scented jasmine. I have been growing it for 15 years or so and only now discovered what it is. The smell at night is amazing, indeed!

The first 3 flowers has a very strong smell and in my culture the people always associated frangipani, jasmine and tuberose with demon, spirit and ghost (the pretty vampires especially). Example you can see quite many frangipani tree in the graveyard or cemeteries here in my country.

One of my Indian dorm mate during college time not allow me to sleep with the string of jasmine buds ( I bought them for 2-3 meters long from the Indian florist who put many jasmine buds into a string). According to my friend, the smell will attract the demon or evil at night and that will be harmful for me. It's advisable if I keep the jasmine buds string in a close place, not on my bed ( I sleep on the lower bunk of double decker bed and I was thinking it would be nice if I can hang the flower at each angle )

I love the smell of Jasmine, never thought an aroma so uplifting joyful & pure would be associated with evil spirits.

everytime I smell Jasmine I can't help but smile, its a very pleasing scent.
