I think I bought a fake perfume. Alien owners please help!

I also have no code at the bottom of the 30ml bottle. Just exactly what You've written. Actually it's kinda weird when You've mentioned. But I'm sure mine is 100% original so don't worry.

Maybe it's just the way it is.

Mine however is from a gift set, maybe Yours too ? Not sure how it makes the difference but...

Check that product code on your box in the Thierry Mugler circle.  If it registers, it's definitely legit.  If you don't have an account with the circle, or don't want to set one up, I can put it in on mine to check for you (It doesn't register your bottle to me legally or anything like that.  As far as I can tell those codes just fill up the volume in a virtual bottle in the corner of the screen.  Yay....)

From a personal side, I would be surprised at something like Alien being counterfeited, as it's not what I'd call a big seller mainstream, and the bottle design is rather intricate to be worth knocking off.

Admittedly, I'm not as savvy to the female side of sales and popularity, and definitely don't notice it anywhere in my area. You are correct though, in that I made the judgement based on localized thoughts, so I wouldn't put any faith into it.

Still, if I wanted to pirate something, and had to mimic either the bottle for Alien or Coco, I know what I'd try.

Though to that end, I guess if the code checks out, that proves that the box is at least legit.

Final advice:  If you like how it smells, and it lasts long enough for you, jackpot!  Why worry?

I think you have the real deal. Most makers of fake perfumes make them for the largest available size, not for the 30ml ones. it's usually the 100ml that are faked, because there's more money to make, and of course it costs some money to produce even the fake ones...

the box could have been a return, as you said...

the marking on the tester strip doesn't mean anything. Also perfumes sometimes end up altered by the paper, but your on skin experience suggests the real deal.

So the box is real, the bottle is hard to fake, the only thing you should still do to be completely sure is go with the bottle at a trusted store and test your perfume on one wrist and their tester on the other, apply them at the same time and see if there's any difference between the development of the fragrance. This should settle it  .
About that stripe inside the box, I wouldn't worry, I also have that inside my Hypnotic Poison box, it's a 30 ml bottle bought at a trusted perfumery (Douglas). I know that when they have a promotion they display in the window like 30 bottles of a perfume...outside the box, so they have to reseal them (obviously I don't agree with that...you basically get a second hand bottle already...not to mention that they are exposed to light...)

If you've purchased from them before and the bottle is 30 mls it's probably real.  Fake perfumes are usually the larger bottles and if it smells good and has longevity is the real thing if it was fake you would know because the quality wouldn't be there!  Perhaps the box was a little bit beat up that's why it was cheaper! good luck!

I tried registering mine  last night, and it said that that code had already been used.  I have no idea what that means.   My bottle is 90ml and I think it is either fake or seriously irregular, because on the box it says:

90ml        6.8ozs
