For me, it's tobacco. I swear, if the perfumer even thought about using tobacco as a note, I can smell it

For me: PATCHOULI!!!
Sometimes I quite like it, whereas other times I absolutely LOATHE it.
Jasmine, I'm always surprised when I look at a perfume's profile and see that others don't smell jasmine as much as I do lol.
L Artisan Parfumeur L’Ete en Douce
L Artisan Parfumeur La Chasse aux Papillons
High pitched jasmine, and linden. Some perfumes that I thought I may like are ruined because of what smells to me like an overdose of linden.
Oud. And when it binds with rose, I can forget about smelling/enjoying anything else.
Orange! This is good, because I adore orange, it's one of my favorite notes.
Licorice is another one. This is bad, because I can't stand the smell of licorice. I like to eat it in candy, but I don't like the smell of it in perfumes. It ruins Pink Candy and a few others for me because the licorice note overpowers everything else.
Cinnamon. Spicy, yummy, cinnamon.
Treemoss / oakmoss without the right amount of citrus oil to balance.
Orange blossom tends to drown out other notes on me! To a lesser extent, so does lemon- Good thing I like both of them!
If there is lilly of the valley in it, that will be ALL I smell.
Oud. And when it binds with rose, I can forget about smelling/enjoying anything else.
Oud would be second on my list. It doesn't completely drown out all other notes, but not for lack of trying.
I often find myself unable to escape amber when it's in a fragrance.
Patchouli, Gardenia, and Sandalwood for me.
Musk....
Need I say more? (smile)

Leather tends to overwhelm me in a fragrance even though I like it -
Always patchouli, but I love patchouli!!
Vanilla at all times.
Vanilla too
and vetyver. Both i love fortunately
Maybe it's psychological when I am aware of the note patchouli; I'm not a big fan of it but I smell it above all the other notes I would like in a perfume.
Vetyver, on the smell strip and on other people, perversely it disappears on me.
On me Amber tends to dominate almost over other notes contained in anything I wear with Amber in it. Also Lavender.
Tuberose! It just seems to bulldoze all the other notes. Any fragrances based on tuberose all smell the same to me. I'm astounded when someone can pick out other notes.

Tuberose sounds like a bully
Sandalwood!
When it's on my skin it also stands out very much. Sometimes I like it sometimes it kind of ruins it for me.
Civet and coconut.
