Topic: Improve hair growth - what to use?

I know about 2 brands that make shampoos and lotions for hair growth (on the head, yes): Shiseido (Adenogen line) and Renokin. For now I use Shiseido Adenogen - both things, shampoo and revitalizing lotion - and expect results of an experiment to the end of October, i.e. half-year from the time I started to use it. Shampoo is already doing well, because my hair stopped to drop out even after haircombing.

Did you use some hair improving products? What brand? And did it help? If you use something now, what is it? And how good does it work?

How does the time smell?

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

Hmm you won't like my answer lol glad  Cuz I don't believe any of those products work.

I think the best things you can do to improve your hair growth are:

1) Stop using harsh shampoos (specifically, avoid sodium lauryl sulfate "SLS"), these dry out your hair.

2) Stop using heat styling or dyes, these cause irreversible damage to your hair.

3) Use a wide-tooth comb

4) Eat a well-balanced diet and take multivitamins.

5) There are mixed opinions on -cones (silicone, dimethicone, trimethicone).  Personally I avoid them because they cause build-up over time which can only be gotten rid of by the same harsh shampoos that I avoid.  It causes a vicious cycle of hair damage imho.

Mmm there are lots of other little things, but those are the most important.  Basically, the best way to speed your hair growth is to take better care of your hair.  The more you damage your hair, the more frequently you'll have to trim.

I would recommend going to http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/sho … php?t=7804 and reading up on this forum.  Lots of great advice.  I'd never have gotten to waist-length without them, though I'll be cutting it back to bra-strap length in the near future as that was my personal sweet-spot in terms of looks and manageability.

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

Thank you. I do not need long hair, just more dense. I do not use heat styling or even fan drying, and for combing I take a hair brush.

Hello candy-datura! Excuse me, are you a male or a female as the recipe changes.
None cosmetologic product will help you with hair loss (they just don't have this ability by definition. They are not allowed to by regulations you see)

Also, dryers, dies e.t.c. while they don't help they are never the cause of permanent alopecia (at the worst you might get some severe allergic reaction but that's about it).

Briefly, this is the best solution on the market.
Shampoo= Fungoral (in the US it's called differently, I believe Nizoral), once every 3 days. Leave it for 5 min. This is the only shampoo that works. Period.

"Regaine", applied twice a day.

If you are a male there's one more thing you can do. Message me for details.

Lastly make sure your vitamin B levels and iron are ok and take good medical advice to see whether you suffer from some temporary hormonal inbalance (if you are a woman).

Bye!

Well, why I'd be writing in "Men's Grooming" section if I were a woman?

Hope I'll be able to find these "Fungoral" and "Regaine". Who produces them, by the way?

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

Nothing to do with products, but when you wash your hair, you're supposed to vigorously massage for a few minutes, this apparently improves hair growth. I know of a man who was balding, as soon as he started doing this, his hair slowly started to come back. No joke... although it takes a long time...but everybody is different!

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

1.message you head and move the head muscles( to improve blood flow)

4.  dont use  oil , cearm or others  too much  its Clogging the hair follicles

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

Lecithin supplement and vitamins .The results are showed immediately.

Shampoo and other external treatments don't help very much.

Choose different parents!  smile Male pattern baldness is inherited, with some evidence of a larger contribution from the mother. If you're genetically predetermined to lose your hair, all the products and treatments in the world won't help. Maybe you can delay the inevitable, but nature will eventually win. Cut your hair very short and resign yourself to it.

My friend takes prenatal vitamins even though she's not pregnant, and her hair is shiny as can be. I take folic acid supplements and unless it's a placebo effect, I think my hair looks pretty good. At a certain age the hair does get wire-y so there's not much you can do about it unless you have good genes.

When I started taking Vitamin D supplements along with calcium, I noticed a definite improvement!

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

As already mentioned, consult your Doctor first just to make sure there isn't anything medically wrong. Typical products in a 'hair growers' arsenal are:

Nizoral Shampoo with 2% ketoconazole. Some say use once every three days but some use every day.

Regaine/Rogaine 5% minoxidil twice a day I prefer the foam version.
Saw Palmetto every morning

Beta Sitosterol every evening

Propecia tablets or a cheaper Finesteride generic such as Finpecia once a day (watch out for side-effects with this and consult your GP before taking)

The forums at http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/ have lots of info and are well worth a visit.

I used a regime similar to this for nearly 15 years, and my hair improved then maintained. Because of side-effects and costs, I have now given up the fight and even after only three months my hair has noticeably deteriorated. I vow not to wear a wig/toupee, and will not resort to a 'comb over'. Might consider a crew cut though  smile

Good luck

Can't help you with the brands, but BIOTIN works wonders. It's basically vitamin B7. You need to take 3-5 tablets a day, for at least 2-3 months to see a difference. Then you reduce the amount gradually.

Biotin works great for making the hair more healthy, I've used it in the past with good results, but it also makes hair grow everywhere!  tongue

Nioxin awesome product. Love how the pepermint feels and stimulates. Also, someone mentioned Biotin Vitamins, excellent as well and very cheap.

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

i concur folks! i have thick hair down to my ass. its mostly diet, eat well. Lots of nuts, salmon, avocado, fish oil.. things rich in omega oils. I also have to manage Color Depletion Alopecia in my blue Dobermann Pinscher. He takes fish oil and quality food helps him grow hair!

however. Husband is experiencing what you are. He used nioxin, & many other expensive "regrowth" products. To be honest, the best product so far was Peppermint Dr Brauners liquid soap. All natural, you can use it all over, but the main thing is, it takes the oil & wax out of your hair follicles which contain DHT? i believe its called, the hormone that shuts down your producing hair follicles. They get clogged up. My husband had given up on keeping hair, and we unexpectedly noticed it got thicker and new hairs were growing in old follicles after a few weeks. We could FEEL the new hairs growing under the rest! id use a nioxin conditioner, to not clog up the follicles again. & definitely get used to it, & get a shorter cut. Its far more flattering. Nothings going to stop your genetics, short of a trip to Bosley.. but Dr brauners worked for my hubby. And we werent even expecting it. He just liked it for a quick all over soap, & tadaa! more hair! & lay off the hats! they can cause more loss.

Re: Improve hair growth - what to use?

Sorry, but i just laugh here.... i want 'density'.... human hair follicules already pre-programmed and inherited..... the folicules slowly 'wake up' by age of 6-7, - that s it. u can not increase their quantity.

U can not 'acquire' 'mane and tail' by just using particular type of haircair.

U just can loose ( hair/follic.quantity) what u were 'programmed for' by having extremes in ur diet and hormonal change ( this is willingly and unwillingly).

2nd. u loose the hair length and volume (in means of hair shaft breakages) by a wrong/or unapropriate usage of heat, care  and styling products.

Just always remember- we are what we eat, metabolism level maintanance+ plus what genes u have inherited.

No matter WHAT u put on ur head, - it WON'T make ur hair density double.NO way. The rest is just Marketing for people who did not study well at school.... sorry again...
