Topic: Chamade connoisseurs?

Well, I was fortunate to get a little sample of Chamade in a swap.  It was from the Perfume Court and an EDP.  I don't know what era it was from, but  there was nothing designating it as vintage.

Oh my goodness, it's just divine!    I was looking on Ebay and they have the EDP , but I  see that there is an EDT, as well.  I wondered if any of you have smelled both and could compare and contrast them.  And also, is the current EDP a good representation of this scent?

I had read about Chamade, and was eager to try it, and it didn't disappoint.  THIS is a perfumerock

thank you!  29

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

Hi there!

You're right about Chamade - it really is sublime. And the good news is that even the current formulations are good, really! Of course, if you were to compare different vintages wrist-to-wrist you would certainly be able to discern some differences, but Chamade hasn't been ruined or gutted by reformulations ...knock wood! And imo, all the concentrations are gorgeous - parfum, edp/pdt or edt ...and the vintage edc (edc is no longer produced) is also to-die-for. I frequently wear different concentrations and formulations together, just to get the full and glorious kaleidoscope effect, lol!

I'd say go ahead and get whatever you can find most readily, and then if you want to chase down some vintages for variety, my recommendation would be look for the pdt - that's parfum de toilette, which is the same as edp but it's an older designation. Or parfum, or edt, or edc....lol! You just can't go wrong with Chamade.  glad

Enjoy!!

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

I`m a huge fan of Chamade too. The only version available here in stores is EDT, but that does not meen it`s weak! I have a simple thin and tall 93 ml bottle, this scent is glorious!

Evangeline, you seem to be a true conoisseur and lover! So I ask you, I've found both the vintage PDT and EDT, is the PDT longevity noticeably better? Is it heavy to wear in spring-summer? I normally like the Guerlain EDTs more than the EDPs (e.g. Samsara)... I have Fidji (Guy Laroche), is it similar to Chamade?

Thank you  glad And thank Oh de Parfum for post!

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

Hi Namida!

The pdt is a bit heavier, but it's not dense ...I wear it in the summer, but I do tend to reach for the lighter concentrations on really hot days. I can't say specifically whether the pdt lasts longer, but I've never had any problems with the longevity of the edt, vintage or current ...but the vintage really is amazing! I'd say if you generally tend to like edts then get the edt - it's glorious.

I don't find it similar to Fidji. The fragrances I think Chamade has most in common with it are

http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.4662.jpg  Hermes Parfum d`Hermes

http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.21.jpg  Hermes Rouge Hermes

which is a re-working of Parfum d'Hermes

and also

http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.1190.jpg  Annick Goutal Grand Amour and

http://fimgs.net/images/perfume/m.2755.jpg  Annick Goutal Heure Exquise

which both have a very similar hyacinth/floral accord...or something, lol! They're different, but they both somehow remind me a lot of Chamade.

Hope this helps - please let us know what you choose!  glad

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

After reading your post, dear Evangeline, I'm more oriented on the edt, if the longevity is as good as in PDT and it's great to wear even in hot  summer days and evenings. And, pratically speaking, the EDT costs less while having a bigger amount ! Add that it has a more beautiful, rounded, bottle:

My only complain is that it is a dab, not spray, therefore more delicate...
Silly question: is it a glass bottle, isnt'it? Because it looks a bit  like plastic  va...

Here the PDT bottle I've found, are both original?

Thank you again  11

(I'll sniff Hermes Rouge too )

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

^Yes, both are original, and wonderful, and yes, they're both glass bottles...the caps are plastic, however. I love that graceful edt bottle too - I used to have that one, lol! They come in various sizes - did you find a great big one? And more importantly, is it sealed, or just barely used? If so, then that's obviously a good sign.

You'll love that edt, I'm sure, but rather than dabbing or splashing, I'd recommend decanting 15mls or so at a time into a glass atomizer to minimize exposure to air, and then you can spray lavishly and to your heart's content!

Oh no....now you've got me wanting that same edition again, lol!  superglad

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

I found 50 ml and 250 ml  va for the EDT, obviously I'll get the smaller bottle, I don't need to bath with it! ( And it will be however a blind buy)   And yes, they are sealed, because they are stock remains.

Your suggestion for decanting it's great, I haven't thought about it  tummenupp

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

Evangeline:  Oooh, you're in Chamade paradise!   7                  Thank you so much for all the info.  It's such good news to hear that Chamade is lovely in all its different versions & vintages.  I think I'm going to buy the EDP (at least first).                                                                        I felt properly perfumed with 4-5 sprays from the tiny sample I had, so I imagine I'd probably be happy with 2-3 sprays from a full size bottle; and i'm a liberal sprayer!  I like to really smell my perfume.  stolt                               A fifty ml bottle would last me a long time.  (rationalizing the expense  vissla  )  It would be a good value, though.

rose-selavie:  I'd like to try the EDT.  I'm glad you can get it & love it, too.  You know, I don't actually know if Chamade is sold in a store near me.  I'm going to look it up.  I just went immediately to Ebay, because that's where I buy most of my perfumes, and figured it would be less expensive there.  The EDP comes in that plain, slim bottle, as well.

Namida:  Yay, you found one!  storstark    Would you let us know what you think once you have it?

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

You're so welcome oh!dp - you picked a true beauty, a bona fide masterpiece, imo. I like to spray lavishly too, and it's hard to beat a big glorious cloud of Chamade to float around in all day, lol!  wink

Welcome to the Chamade club! Congratulations, and wear it in the best of health!

Oh, btw - those slim plain bottles y'all are referring to are probably the refill bottles for the elegant metal canisters the edt and edp (and parfum, though it's smaller) come in. The decorative canisters are called the "Habit de Fête" (holiday dress, or party dress) and the refills that are sold for them are usually very good buys! If you don't care about the bottle, these are a great way to save a few bucks.

Re: Chamade connoisseurs?

Go for the parfum, really its the bomb.
