Topic: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

http://www.styleseekersonline.com/product_images/f/a29_45805__10178.jpg

Now normally I like to keep things simple, never any graphics or especially writing on my shirts. I can tolerate a very small logo (like the normal RL Polo logo) but even that is pushing it.

However, I kind of like these. It's like "I have a giant horse dude on my shirt, got something to say about it?" I tried one on and I thought it looked great. I didn't buy it though, because I wasn't sure if it was too ridiculous or young for me (I'm 35) My style is probably best described as "Guido goes to Yale" so that part fits... I dunno, what do you think?

BONJOUR.There is no need to wear clothes with big logos to advertise the company,it lacks style when someone does that.

Carpe Diem.

That is extremely sporty. It's "vogue"ing. You might wear it actually to play polo. Otherwise, you are screaming "Look at me...I have a polo shirt!!"

I dunno about this one. 35

Total tool.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

I will say no..

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

I say cool...but I'm preppy. so yeah lol. it's up my alley.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

Hmm, i prefer the small logo instead. But if it fits you well and you are comfortable with the look, then why not.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

You know, I love the prep look, and I adore Ralph Lauren; you could wear the shirt if you had the most non-tool personality in the world.  Tool personality and it's a no-go.  most guys I know who wear these are total tools.

If you can do it, try it.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

I'd steer clear unless you play polo. On the other side of the fence, over at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, there are tons of low-quality Beverly Hills Polo Club, CHAPS, and other imitations that look quite like this.

It's not too bad, actually, I like polo shirts, but I'd prefer a smaller logo.

I'll have to say tool, but then I'm not into any kind of logo.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

Hmm, it's not looking too good for this shirt.  I don't like it because it's a giant Polo logo (blue label??? I don't understand the RL brand structure)  I like it in spite of it being a giant Polo logo.  Maybe if I find one on clearance, or I'll check out the knockoffs at TJMaxx.  The RL "Custom fit" shirts are a perfect fit for me, but I could just get a couple with the regular logo, or no logo, if they make them.

It's got me thinking though... I don't play polo, but maybe I could get a custom shirt embroidered...

"Why does your shirt have that big logo of a guy sitting in a recliner?"

"Because I don't play polo"

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

'Tool'= Too big a logo for my liking not classy.

it just makes me think of a guy at Starbuck's with his dingy girlfriend, and they both have drinks with whipped cream on top, lol.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

i say YES!!!!! i have 6 or 8 myself like that- BIG pony, and  3 little one.

U do not 'scream' ad for a company. u just like it, do u?

So why not? it is good brand, isn't it. it looks gorgeous on the picture. i am sure it will look gorgeous on u as well.

and think less about HOW it looks in others' eyes, what they think. just answer to urself- can u wear this? if yes, - JUST DO IT!!!

this is my approach to the things -wearing.

Cool! Ralph Lauren can do no harm in my book! Love the preppy look!

I say tool but then I hate the preppy look with a passion.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

I say wear what you like and are comfortable in.  Most people are too busy worrying about what they are wearing/look like to care what you have on.  And those that are going to judge you based on what you are wearing are going to judge whether you wear this shirt or another one.

So go for it! glad

It is really cool. I would like to design t-shirts online by myself now. As the Olympic games coming, I've designed a few t-shirts on Egotailor.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

Cool and stylish. I don't own any of the Big Pony Polo's but have two regular Ralph Lauren Polo's in Baby Blue and another one in Teal.

Re: Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo shirts - cool or tool?

Looks ok, I have seen much worse logo's, nameprints, embroidery from shoulder to shoulder on shirts everywhere. This isn't remotely bad, but if I got to choose between this and the style with the smaller logo I'd take the smaller one too.

I'd buy it. It's also sufficiently different that you won't get sued.
