Oil of Olay products have been tested and found to be as effective as the most expensive products. I like that line because they have sunscreen and a wide selection. Also, a dermatologist can prescribe Retin A cream.

Re: A face cream that really works?

I'll suggest you to use best cream that was regarded as the miracle in pharma. world named "Retin-A". No side effect by this cream just use twice in day.

Re: A face cream that really works?

My grandmother had the most gorgeous peaches and cream complexion in the world, and she used Pond's cold cream, Dove soap and Oil of Olay.

I am sure some of this other stuff is good, too, but I know this worked for her!

Re: A face cream that really works?

I've been in the beauty business for 20 years and I have found that the products that are used in beauty salons are by far and away the best to use, because simply put, if they don't work the customer won't come back!  These products have been tested within an inch of their lives by clinical scientists, on hundreds of people.

Have a look on QVC UK website. They have some of the best salon brands, Gatineau Melatogenine is highly recommended. Also, Decleor, which is completely plant based aromatherapy.  If you don't like the products from QVC you can send them back for a refund. Gatineau and Decleor are little pricey, so for a cheaper alternative try Liz Earle or SBC.

Remember you need to start with the basics, what are you cleaning your face with? If it's soap, then don't bother getting expensive lotions and potions. There are lots of good wash off cleansers in this range. Also, you need to exfoliate on a weekly basis.  Some of the daily cleansers are gently exfoliate.  Exfoliating gets rid of the dead skin cells which hang around in the lines and pours, which visibly ages the look of our skin.  The dryer your skin is, the more you need to exfoliate.

SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN!!!

If you are outdoors a lot, then you need to protect your skin from the sun, use Ultrasun SPF 30 / 50. You only need to apply this once a day. It will not degrade throughout the day. It has anti ageing ingredients, so you won't need to moisturise. This product is issued to the military, police force etc. You can also get this through QVC UK.

Beware of some of the advice saying go for "medical grade".  Many of these products are harsh, and when used over long period of time, damage the skin.  Most of them were developed to scour away acne scars etc.  If you have sensitive skin, and most men do because they shave, stay well away from agressive products.  Also, some of them have been endorsed by "A" doctor or a "couple of doctors" trying to cash in.  Look for products which have been developed over a long period of time by a team of scientists and skin clinicians.

PM me if you want any more advice.

Re: A face cream that really works?

Don't forget that all of these cosmetic creams are just that cosmetic, meaning if you stop using them then the benefit they provide goes away.

Some prescription products may have a more potent effect of skin, as would products with 20% vitamin c used for long periods of time. Additionally some products with retinol do have more substantial effects when used routinely.

Apart from this most creams should impart at least some instant softening of fine lines, and illumination of complexion, which  is based on the quality and types of ingriedients used.

Hi, please try the Boots No. 7 Perfect and Protect Intense Serum.

Just apply it onto your face, wait five mins and then use whatever face cream you like.

The serum is marvellous. It took years off of me.  tummenupp

Absolutely agree!!! Have been using this for years (the regular before the intense came out) and it is fabulous!!! So inexpensive, too!

My mum is 69 and looks about 55. She used to wear Lancome's Platineum Hydroxy-Calcium but I got her the Boots Protect and Perfect creams&serum and she said she actually prefers them! I think she shows the benefits of healthy, active lifestyle (no smoking, lots of fresh air, face protected from direct sunlight, healthy diet and enough sleep).
