I guess some people can make it work, but generally I don't find it elegant or sophisticated. Nay........

Big yay!  glad  My nails almost never all match.  I typically will have at least one "accent" nail on each hand - whether it's a nail that is a different (complimenting) color, or a single glittery one amongst cremes. It's like my own little way to be creative without being over the top.

Yay, I've been doing it for years. With colours and finishes that compliment each other, a little nail art on one fingernail etc. Looks cool and fun providing its on natural nails. Don't like artificial nails.

For me, it depends on the actual design. I really like the fourth picture (the different shades of blue). I think it looks cool and pretty, and I would wear that kind of style for sure, in other colors too, so I would say "yay" to that one. But I don't really like a lot of the others, so "nay" to those.

Generally Nay because it just looks a little O.T.T. However, the fifth pic down looks kind of cool (the one with peachy nails and one golden-glittery nail).

I think they are ok depending on your profession. A professional artist or musician could probably pull this off.

The blue version you posted is cute and also the first one with the flowers, but someone need to know how to do it. For example those natural nail with the silver one or those with the blue, to me are too different. It does look good if the color are similar though. I think the extreme version is just weird.

My girls do this, but they are young and one is very artsy.  And theirs look way better, lol.

Usually I tend to go for slightly quirky trends however, in my opinion some of the above pictures remind me of a person who was in the middle of a manicure, got an emergency phone call and had to run out of the place with her nails half done.http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/emoticons/character/character-emoticon-0023.gif 

The other picture above looks like they were doing a color test as they couldn't make up their mind which color to choose.

The last nail picture is just tacky IMO.  yikes
