I would say less sweet than Red Aoud, at least to me......at the very sweetest, maybe AS sweet. October to me is a bit spicy, with apple and pumpkin combined in a non foody way ( if that even makes sense?). It's as if you have a full belly already, so you don't really want to eat the smell, but it just captures the season.

Loobloo, can you tell me how sweet October is?

Is it just as sweet as Red Aoud or sweeter?  glad

Thanks, that sounds just wonderful! I will definitely give it a try. glad

Red Aoud is just my limit as sweetness goes, it is even a tiny bit too sweet for my taste but I enjoy it a lot anyway.

Wow, I just looked at the website and there are so many not in the database!

I hope they're added soon, this perfumer looks fantastic!

Today I'm wearing Dark Earth, which is #1 in the earthtones series.

Spring is just around the corner here, so it feels just right. Here's a review from Perfume-Smellin' Things that pretty well sums up my experience of this beautiful perfume:

Thank you so much for sharing your impressions!

This review makes the fragrance very appealing to me. I love realistic scents, especially the ones who include earth, greens and some florals.

Dark Earth is very quiet, but that makes it a more intimate experience. It lasts about 4 hours on me.

Ohh, first time I hear about this brand. Very curious indeed! But I haven't smelled any, and I buy samples on extremely rare occasion, I'd rather save my money for FB... so I will keep reading, until some come through swaps!

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

Oh no, another brand that sounds fantastic! I have been exposed to October only, but I might get an excuse to reward myself with some perfume shopping in October ( superglad) and I am getting really curious about this line, thanks to you. Do you recommend parfum or EdP? The difference in price isn't too bad and I like my fragrances with longevity and moderate sillage. At least October EdP ticks both boxes, but how about others?

At the moment I am most interested in Bunt Amber, Dark Season, Hula, Midnight Tryst, Midnight Star, Scrumptious, Spectral Violette, Swoon and Woodland Strawberries.

Mmm, great choices!

Some of his fragrances are not always available in both concentrations.

I have tried both and I enjoyed both. I personally would be ok with the EDP. I like to be able to spray myself a few times. Perfume is quite concentrate so I only get to spray once or I decant into dab on vials so I can apply a little bit of fragrance everywhere.

At the moment, I am cherishing my spray samples of Summer of Love and Rumi.

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

Thanks full_of_colours, you are always so helpful! I think I will go for EdP and if I happen to visit a stockist, I'll check out the parfum. I think his signature collection is available in EdP only, but the Vault ones come in both concentrations. I don't know if I can wait until October, though.  I have no self control when it comes to perfume:)

For the ones who are curious about Dark Season, there are a few great reviews on Makeup Alley.

It's been added to my Neil Morris test list!

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

I just ordered some samples from the website as there is free international shipping over $70.  So I can't wait to try! I ordered a FB of Rose vanilla, and various samples, cant recall all of them, but i orded:

Clear, Dark Season, Kali Rose! Midnight star.

I will let you all know how it goes!  19

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

I am a new devotee of Neil Morris and I think he is extremely underappreciated.

I adore "Afire"..I think it can rightly be called a masterpiece and a work of art ( see my review to see how much I love it)

I recently received samples of;

October- Not at all sweet ( which was a disappointment to me;I wanted it to smell like an apple pie) It's predominently myrrh ( medicinal) which swamps the apple note.

Rose Of Kali- Gorgeous rose fragrance with a big dose of dark chocolate.

Mystic Dragon- Wow! what an unusual fragrance..smoky candy.Like October,it's myrhh-heavy but the myrhh isn't quite as overwhelming in this. It's a perfume for someone with lots of confident who likes their perfume to be dark, controversial and different.

If anybody wants these samples, please pm me.I have done swaps with a couple of members before.( In fact, that's how I came by Afire)

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

I have spoken with Mr. Neil Morris personally on the phone when calling to enquire about one of his fragrances.  He was very kind and helpful.

My favorite of his is, Desert Wind!  Can't find it listed here but should be on his website.     A very clean, crisp, airy scent that really does evoke images of a desert wind.

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

I just got my delivery today! I bought a FB blind buy of "Rose Vanille" and I'm on the fence with it, I should have sampled before I bought. Its an old fashioned powdery musky Rose with Vanilla/Helitrope,(similar to "Ombre Rose") which normally i would love, but it's incredibly strong! Maybe its just me today, so i will keep giving it a go, if it dosent work out I'll be keen on a swap.

I do however quite like Kali Rose & Dark Season, both of which I would purchase a FB. Both have real depth, incense notes and feel rich.  glad

So far I did not like: Midnight star & Spectural violet, both quite clean on me, does not really suit me.
He was very generous with his samples, still have lot more to test!

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

A few years ago, I received a sample of Zephyr. Probably one of the best scents I have ever smelled in my life. I'm planning on buying a 3.4 oz bottle of it, and I want to check out some of his other fragrances.

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

I have decided to put my Neil Morris - Vanille Rose edp up for a swap!!

I also have a few samples too, devils scent - his new one! Let me know if you would love to swap wink PM me!

Re: In appreciation of Neil Morris

A silly question but is there an actual shop where one could try out these fragrances? I didn't see any info on his web page and have sent an email about this but did not receive a reply. I am visiting Boston in the summer and would love to test some of the stuff. Not sure if the massachusetts ave address is an actual store. Any ideas?

I have decants of these two and like them both very much. I also have a decant of Neil Morris Cafe, also a great perfume.  I believe October is brilliant though, and it is on my want list together with about 5 others. Unfortunately they are difficult to get here in Australia.  I think his perfumes are a cut above many other niche perfume houses.
