The company Aveda was founded in 1978. Aveda is Sanskrit for "all knowledge". Their headquarters are based in Minnesota, USA. With the manufacture of high quality products that based on mainly botanical components the company targeted beauticians and other beauty professionals who wanted to give their customers the best beauty and skin care experience. Today, the company provides their customers with a range of plant-based beauty products for skin and hair. Make-ups and perfumes, the companies trademarked pure-fumes, are available as well.
Aveda is working with beauty professionals in spas and salons. Their aim is to not only make their customers look beautiful, but also to make the feel beautiful. With the development of new treatments and premium products the company has gathered a following among beauticians and consumers alike.
As the company that has defined aromatherapy, Aveda has launched new, innovative products since the very beginning. Their commitment to the use of botanical essences and their environmental responsibility have helped Aveda gain a reputation and to open spas, stores and beauty concessions in many countries. By the 1990 the company was well-known and liked by women all over the world. In 1997 it became part of the Estée Lauder Companies.
All of their essential oils, such as cistus, babassu, lavender, rose, sandalwood and others, are fairtrade and sustainably sourced from many parts of the world. Aveda focuses on providing premium natural ingredients that are bio-degradable, do not harm the ecosystem and are not tested on animals. Their commitment to nature and animals does not end here. Excessive packaging is avoided in order to save as much energy as possible and to reduce waste. Moreover, all packaging is fully recyclable!
Not only Aveda's headquarters, but also their main production facilities are based in Minnesota, USA. In order to extend their green policies even further, wind energy has been the source of energy that the company has used since 2007.
Aveda ventured into fragrances in 1980, 2 years after the company was founded. The fragrance Aveda Love was presented as the company's first perfume made of natural ingredients. The new generation of the company's trademarked pure-fumes were launched after the integration of the brand into the Estée Lauder Companies. Several perfumes have been launched since.
