Chaumet is a french house of luxurious jewelry and watches founded by Marie-Etienne Nitot in 1780 in Paris . Josephine, the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, was Marie-Etienne Nitot's first eminent costumer. That way Nitot became the officially appointed Emperor's jeweler in 1802 and designed the Napoleon Tiara and the Imperial Sword. His jewelry became the symbol of the Empire's power and grandeur. He also created jewelry for Marie-Louise's Imperial wedding. Nitot and his son were succeeded by master craftsmen Fossin, Morel and Chaumet.

Jean-Baptiste Fossin and his son Jules designed romantic jewelry inspired by the decorative arts of the Italian Renaissance and the French 18th century and nature motives like vine leafs, olive and chestnut trees, hawthorne and fruits. Their clientele included the Duchess de Berry, the family of King of France Louis-Phillip, foreign aristocracy and artists.

Jean-Valentin Morel left France after the 1848 revolution, moved the business to London and became jeweler to Queen Victoria. His clientele also included Napoleon III, Eugenie of Montijo, Dukes Rochefoucault and Luynes etc. He was aided by his son Prosper.

Joseph Chaumet married the daughter of Prosper Morel and inherited the House in 1885 and gave it his name. He opened the boutique at 12, Place Vendôme in Paris In 1907. Marcel Chaumet succeeded his father in 1928, developing art deco and avant-garde style of geometrically shaped jewelry. In the period of the Second World War, the house affirmed itself as the pioneer in luxury, tastefulness and creativity.

Chaumet was bought by the LVMH Group in 1999 and expanded with 70 stores around the world, lead by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.

Designer Chaumet has 3 perfumes in our fragrance base all launched in 1999. Chaumet fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Gerard Anthony, Raphael Haury and Louise Turner.
