Jean Dessès Logo

Jean Dessès (1904-1970) was a renowned couturier known for his draped dresses and gowns styled on ancient Greek and Egyptian designs. Born in Egypt to Greek parents, Jean Dessès found work at a Parisian fashion house and opened his first salon in 1937. Adored by the crowned heads of Europe and the most popular film stars of his day, he was a leading designer from the 1940s through the 1960s, when he retired from fashion and returned to Greece.

Jean Dessès' designs enjoyed a revival in the 1990s and early 21st century, when celebrities sought the classical draping of his vintage gowns for the Academy Awards and other important events.
