Royall Fragrances Logo

Royall Fragrances are inspired by semi – tropical paradise of the island archipelago of Bermuda, also known as the “jewel in the Atlantic”. The first fragrance of the house, named Royall Lyme, was brought to market in 1957 by Mr. Anthony J. Gaade, a renowned Bermuda yachtsman and competitor in international races.

Royall Lyme is a refreshing masculine fragrance blended from native West Indian limes, washed by pure island rains, by a recipe that origins from an old Caribbean formula, obtained from Harbor Islanders. The secret formula features a total of 78 ingredients. In 1960 Royall Lyme was introduced at Brooks Brothers New York and since then it became very popular. After that, it went international to London, Milan and beyond. Following the successes of Royall Lyme, Mr Gaade created other fragrances embodying the essence of Bermuda islands. Those fragrances are Royall Spyce, Royall Bay Rhum, and Royall Muske. Royall Mandarin joined the collection in 2001.

The original packaging for the Royall Fragrances is also reminiscent of the old Bermuda. The bottles are crafted of semi-hand-made glass from original clay molds with antimonial pewter-colored lead bron caps. A crown and a lime cluster are molded on each bottle. Each bottle also features the fragrance name and crown in raised glass on the back, with a distinctive colored label on the front. Fine parchment with a crown wax seal represents a finishing touch of the packaging. The seals are made with the same wax used by the Bank of England.

Mr. Gaade says: “In the Royall Family Fragrance, we believe we have a truly unique range of prestigious gentlemen's toiletries and grooming aids directed to the discerning user and carrying the Bermuda message overseas.”
