Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Collection: Fragrant Travel Description – Italy

Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Collection: Fragrant Travel Description – Italy

By: Sandra Raičević Petrović

If you like the Mediterranean, unique Italian taste, sophisticated style and relaxing aromas, I can instruct you to try the blue collection by the house of Acqua di Parma, which is a unique olfactive embodiment of natural breath-taking beauties.

Intoxicating notes of Mediterranean landscapes are depicted through high-quality ingredients and rounded up with the creators' emotional signature. They wanted to show the gifts of nature in several versions. The Blu Mediterraneo collection attracted attention with its turquoise package, quality of compositions and well chosen location for each individual edition.

As blue as the purest sea wale, as intoxicating and refreshing as Mediterranean air, as sophisticated and unique as locations used as inspiration…

Acqua di Parma celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Blu Mediterraneo last year. The collection encompasses almond, cypress, orange, fig and myrtle and compares these ingredients with emotions arising unexpectedly. The collection will take us all round Italy, though unforgettable destinations, with its compositions - Sicilia, Toscana, Capri, Panarea, Amalfi, Calabria.

The first emotion is embodied through a Mediterranean ode to almonds - Mandorlo di Sicilia, which is a gourmand-aromatic and exciting story for all those searching for an intense and long-lasting composition with bitter almonds in the main role. This is my favorite perfume in this collection. Typical Mediterranean breeze tingles your nostrils and invites you to relax, which is depicted through a combination of anise which refreshes while imitating peppermint notes along with citrusy sparkles of bergamot.

This beautiful and intoxicating perfume is ideal both for skin of men and women. This fragrance directs us towards Sicily, the largest Italian island, known for the ancient temple of goddess Hera, which has been resisting time for centuries, as well as for Roman amphitheater, culture, architecture, cuisine, cultivation of oranges, lemon, olive and vine, with inevitable almonds, wine and olive oil. Volcanoes Etna, Stomboli and Volkano are the most important for Sicily and for surrounding islands succumbing to activity of the volcanoes. A union of rich aromas we feel with every breath, ancient buildings and unrestrained nature are reflected in the mesmerizing composition full of nuances.

Cypress marks Cipresso di Toscana with its tame nuances of wood, green herbs, very mild spices, citruses and conifer tree needles. The first breath feels like diving into an aromatic green wave, which is very tame and relaxing. Inspiration was found in Renaissance architecture and ancient stone cities of Toscana surrounded with forests bringing scents of pine, cypress and conifer trees with warm aromas of intoxicating resins. Liveliness of the composition is achieved by Italian citruses: grapefruit and bergamot, petitgrain leaves, while aromatic nuances derive from sage and lavender.

Sweet passions of orange in Arancia di Capri are mixed with irresistible and cuddling caramel along with a spicy tact of cardamom signed by sensual musk in a base. It was inspired by the cosmopolitan island of Capri attributed as Mediterranean heaven, and the perfume includes zest of sweet orange, Sicilian mandarin, bergamot and bitter grapefruit. This sophisticated, refreshing and energizing composition is enough for a daily dosis of relaxation and an excellent gift for fans of cuddling sweet citruses.

After almonds, cypresses and oranges, it is time for figs! The composition with figs reminds me of Macchia Mediterranea, but with stronger intensity and longer lastiness. Aromatic fig Fico di Amalfi can be understood by all those who stopped for a moment under a fig tree to inhale aromas of wood, fruit, leaf and zest of fig in the same time. The composition is, just like others, ideal to unwind and calm down.

On overture composed of luminous pride of Italy – citruses is combined with pink pepper, jasmine and fig leaves, while fig fruit, musk and cedar can be found in a base. Ideal for all fans of fig scent! This fragrance is connected with the city of Amalfi, among which steep cliffs of Lataro mountain stand still and make further development of the city impossible. Other parts of the city, which stretch along the cliffs, have a beautiful view of the blue sea.

The fifth fragrance of the collection which celebrates its anniversary is dedicated to myrtle and Panarea – an island known as a great VIP summer destination. This modern, lively and colourful place full of hotels, stores and restaurants, as well as pristine, wild and calming nature inspired creators for this olfactive union of myrtle, citruses (bergamot, sweet orange, lemon), floral notes of jasmine, lilac and rose, along with juniper berries, currant leaves, basil, amber and precious woody nuances of cedar. Mirto do Panarea will certainly soothe you and regenerate spirit and thoughts of the person carrying it and their surroundings.

The whole collection is available in two sizes of flacons – 60 and 120ml EDT. During last year sets which include three fragrances were presented (Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Experience set). Each fragrance was joined by top quality body care cosmetics.

Italy in a flacon, carried on your hands, Italy behind your ear, on your neck, scarf or in trace… Italy with clear and tame aromas, without entanglements or too many decorations; stylish, natural and uncompromised. I recommend you to try the whole collection created as an olfactive summary of regions you see on postcards…

We can announce the latest edition which joins the collection in the beginning of 2010, Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Bergamotto di Calabria, inspired by Italian region Calabria. It stretches south from Napoli, to Ionic and Tirene sea, covering 'fingers' of Italian boot. The capital of the region is Catancaro.

The composition which marks the new edition lines up citrusy aromas of bergamot and lemon, red ginger and a woody base of vetiver and cedar, while depicting a citrusy-woody union typical of perfumes inspired by Italian nature and temperament of the region shown with red ginger accords. The new edition which arrives in sale worldwide (just in Neiman Marcus for now) will be available as 60 and 120ml edt.
