Anya`s Garden 100% natural perfumes on Fragrantica

The exclusive world of natural perfumery is hidden from masses. Its luxurious creations can't be reproduced in thousands of examples, and every drop gleams with multiple facets only natural oil can provide; it's based on living juice and made by hand and from the heart. Natural perfume is the only way to discover the real Nature beauties, and to find out how Perfume was produced and treasured hundreds - and even thousands - years ago.

Natural perfumer is an artist, chemist, enthusiastic explorer and, for sure, a very interesting person to communicate with. This week, we have a wonderful opportunity to introduce to you Anya McCoy, a natural perfumer and the founder and owner of Anya's Garden. Anya is also the President and Owner of Natural Perfumers Guild. Anya has 7 perfumes in her line; she also creates custom scents, provides consultations and runs her online natural perfumery school (next class perfumery course starts in February 2010).

Anya composes her fragrances of natural oils, essences and tinctures, many of them she makes by herself. Miami (Florida) with its lush vegetation, where Anya's Garden is based, is the right place for the passionate explorer of natural scents. Anya is really imaginative in her work, she doesn't make anything you can call 'ordinary'. She uses such unusual ingredients as goat hair tincture (to create a perfume devoted to the lyrical god, Pan), a tincture of earth (the safest and eternal base!) for her Temple perfume, smoked sea shells for her Fairchild perfume. When using ingredients of animal sources, Anya chooses only cruelty-free essences, such as hyrax.

Recent Anya's Garden releases (from 2009) are Moon Dance and Star Flower.
Star Flower (September) is made in a homage to the flavors and scents of Mexico. The star is tuberose, set in a cream of lemon, almond, maple-flavored seeds, chocolate, vanilla and patchouli.
"Star Flower Perfume and EdP is my homage to tuberose and the stellar fragrance beauties that also come from Mexico, chocolate and vanilla. Their unctuous natures are cheerfully masked - briefly - by a bitter almond and lemon opening. Then the deep, dark, sensual Mexican "perfume mole" unfolds on your skin, silky, smooth, seamless, a symphony of floral and foodie delights."

The last edition is a surreal, cool, romantic Moon Dance and today (October 5th) it's available from Anay's Garden site. Today is Anya's birthday!

Moon Dance "is undeniably the most romantic, sensual perfume I have ever created, with a double dose of ambergris because I just *had* to do it! It was an impetuous gesture, like the type you make when you're in love and led me to doubel the ambergris when I was blending".

During the entire month (October) samples of seven Anya's perfumes will be sold as a set for $35, or $5 per perfume. Additionally, any full bottles or botanicals from the perfumery are 10% off. Just use the code moondance when entering your order.

Anya's Garden will give away a pure perfume (3,5ml) to three Fragrantica readers. Every winner will get a perfume of their choice from the Collection:

Fairchild        Kaffir      MoonDance       Pan          RiverCali     StarFlower    Temple

Thanks for the review of Temple. I've had several customers tell me that it truly smells like a Japanese Temple - in Japan. I blended it intuitively, to empower and ground people, to give calm and serenity. So glad you love it! :-)

I'm glad the StarFlower got there so quickly ;-)

My StarFlower is here! I'm wearing it right now and so far, so good! Want to give it a couple good wearings and try to write an intelligent review. More to come!

Thanks again, Anya and Fragrantica!

My favorite is Temple, but I also like Fairchild, RiverCali and Kaffir. How changeable they are on the skin!

For example Star Flower (another my fav) has a very bright opening with cherry and almond, but after a few minutes they are gone almost completely, replaced with living tuberose. Absolutely new for me ;o)))

And of course I like Pan, so uneasy and challenging, and cozy like a goat hair ;o)))

I forgot Moon Dance, it's surreal, like a fairy Moon dust, intoxicating, very unusual. I can admire it following its every layer and note, but the best is Temple ;o))

star flower really suits me... not heavy on me at all

All of the perfumes were sent out yesterday to the winners and I hope they all arrive safely, especially since one is going to Romania. That's a long trip, but I've successfully shipped to Bosnia, the Ukraine, Japan and many other countries where I thought there might be a problem, but there wasn't.

Enjoy!

Wow, thank you!...and congrats to all the winners!
It was a tough choice, but I chose Moon Dance because it seemed to be Anya's personal fav. I'll make sure to come back and post. :o)

Happy Belated Anya!

They all sound AMAZING. Shame about the price, I dont think I will buy any of them unsniffed, but the names and the describtions do suggest it is something I have been looking for for ages!

Big thanks, Fragrantica and Anya!

It was hard to pick just one scent. They all sound so beautiful! I can't wait to try StarFlower and share my thoughts with everyone.

Congrats to Arance and souflwr, too!

Hi everyone!
I already heard from NebraskaLovesScent and it turns out she was on my yahoo natural perfumery group a few years ago ;-)

She chose StarFlower to help her get through those cold Nebraska nights but I hope she heeds Chaya's tip about sprightly and turning carnal, lol. It definitely is a winter/party scent!

The Moon Dance is intoxicating...
Star Flower starts out in a sprightly tone, then morphs into carnality !

Moon Dance and Star Flower sounds heavenly, I`m so interested in those two!

Happy birthday Anya and welcome to Fragrantica!!!

Anya, the ingredients you use are so interesting, for example goat hair, it must be so cozy scent, I like the scent of real goat hair, and milk. Can't wait to sniff your Pan.
10/05/09 22:01:53
Anya, so glad to see your perfumes featured here on Fragantica. Happy Birthday!
10/05/09 20:05:32
Thank you everyone at Fragrantica for the warm welcome and the creative and fun way you are presenting my perfumes. This is a fun birthday and an exciting day because I love MoonDance so much. You've really made it extra special!
10/05/09 19:37:13
How can you even pick one??? They all sound so intriguing. I'm fairly new to the love of fragrances, but these definitely don't sound like anything I've heard of before. They sound very creative. Wish you the best.
10/05/09 19:29:19
Happy Birthday, Anya ;-)
Happy to see you here, and hope others get to appreciate your work...
10/05/09 17:47:22
Dear Anya, welcome to Fragrantica and happy birthday! ;o))
10/05/09 13:46:30
Hello Anya----as an editor here WELCOME. WE are so happy that our readers will now have the opportunity to learn more about your perfumes and about the art of natural perfumery

natural fragrances unfold so differently on the skin, like the dance of the seven veils and are quite complex. It is erroneous to think natural perfumery is aromatherpay
10/05/09 12:19:09
Happy Birthday Anya! We are happy to have your fragrances presented here. We plan to dedicate one section of news here at Fragrantica to natural perfumery. Fragrantica is an independent magazine and open to everybody from mainstream to niche, natural perfumes...
