Aroma fights the cold

The cold season has come...

If you think that fragrance only helps you to feel beautiful and attractive - you are wrong! It's also about staying healthier. People in different cultures use plant remedies for thousands years and essential oils are not an exception. If you have one of these symptoms - sneezing, aching back, running nose, sore throat, watery eyes, painful bones, sore throat - don't hesitate, take action with aromatic treatment! Help yourself with essential oils! Most of them have very strong antiseptic properties.

The queen of the oils for me is Fir (Abies) oil. There are 4 species are widely used - Siberian, Balsamic, White and Douglas Fir. Evergreen tree from Pine family is native to North America helps to fight respiratory problems even if you just go to the forest.

At home you can dip the cotton ball in the oil and place it not far from your bed overnight. Or put 2-5 drops of oil into bowl of hot tap water, cover your head with a towel or blanket and inhale the vapors.

Lavender (Lavandula sp) oil. You can do as same inhalation as with fir oil or rub it on your chest and temples and nostrils. Repeat couple of times a day for few days. You can also take a bath with lavender oil mixed with any vegetable oil to make it less concentrated.

Eucalyptus oil thins the mucous witch gets out easier and acts as an expectorant. This oil is great when used in inhalations, chest and upper back rub and just to purify your living space. Essential oils might cause allergic reactions - remember about it!

Breathe deeply and stay healthy!

Olya, thank you for your advices and welcome aboard!

I regularly use lavender and rosemary, and love evergreens. Thank you for reminding me of these wonderful oils. The scent of Eucalyptus is one of my olfactory memories from my childhood, we always had it in oil or even dry branches.

I discovered lavender for myself three years ago, in Croatia. I didn't understand its beauty (in pure oil) before. Since that time I simply have to have lavender at home. My children also use it sometimes as antiseptic, and love the smell ;o)
