At the latest Esxence in Milan Neela Vermeire introduced us to her new creation inspired by and named after the legendary Indian emperor Ashoka, who ruled India from  304–232 BCE. During his reign, Ashoka gathered almost all the territories of India as we know it today. The fragrance reflects Ashoka's drastic trasformation from a cruel ruler to an enlightened philosopher. It moves from the dark to the light.

"Inspired by a legendary ruler, Neela Vermeire Creations's new release Ashoka, created in collaboration with perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, is a tribute to an emperor who was conquered by his own compassion at the moment his victory was assured. He converted to Buddhism and devoted the rest of his life to spreading the Buddha's teachings, to truth, to justice and to compassion for all living creatures beneath the sun.

His own evolution from ruthless conqueror to benevolent emperor is reflected in Ashoka's journey from the fierce opening to a softly floral heart & the gentle embrace of its richly complex drydown."—Press Release

ASHOKA's Notes:

Fig leaves, leather, white and pink lotus, mimosa, fig milk, osmanthus, rose, water hyacinth, vetiver, styrax, incense, sandalwood, myrrh, tonka bean and fir balsam.

Ashoka will be available in select stores from early Autumn 2013.

As you have probably noticed, the flacon of Ashoka has a different look. This new design, made by Pierre Dinand, will replace the old one for all Neela's creations: Mohur, Trayee, Bombay Bling! and the new Ashoka. The flacon is very handy and as beautiful as the old ones. The new silver metal cap has the Neela Vermeire Creations logo on it.

Neela has decided to keep the previous design only for one of her creations: Mohur, but the new one, in higher concentration. This new, intense Mohur will be housed in the original flacon in amethyst glass with a special panache spray.

To Mohur lovers and curious perfumistas: this is a special treat for you! New concentrated Mohur has gained in the deliciousness of rose; it keeps unfolding her layers until it has all your attention focused on its beauty. Rose always wins only in a higher concentration. I would recommend this new Mohur to everybody, even if you think that you don't like rose at all. Try it, try it, you will see!  ;o)

Ashoka sounds gorgeous, can't wait to sniff it - sounds like it'll live up to the already excellent existing trio. However, I'm a little sad to hear about the flacon change :( whilst yes the new monogramed cap is an improvement, I far prefer the original flacon design. Although granted, the new design with it's slightly asymmetrical lines does look far less like an ice-cream sundae cup/glass. Still, I think the now removed base made the flacons look more elegant.
I suppose that means I'll need to go for the new Mohur then - plus in purple glass it's even more gorgeous.)

the perfumes sound intriguing but I simply LOVE the bottles!

So happy to hear of the continued success of Neela Vermeiere Creations. :-) Ashoka looks delightful!

I always want to smell whatever Neela Behen has put her hand to; as for Monsieur Dinand...oh my .

I like the new bottle better. This is a rare example when the new one is better, usually I react on such news very suspiciously, especially after those sad news from Annick Goutal...

New Mohur is gorgeous ;o)

Nice! I'm in love with Trayee so a new addition is always welcome!!! Hope to be able to smell it very soon! Thanks Elena!
