Perfume O is a leather fragrance, composed of thyme, raspberry, cyperus esculentus, rose hips, leather, birch, cedar wood, metallic notes. Who is the author of such an idea for fragrances?
Giovanni & Antonio: Well, Giovanni is a fashion designer and the co-founder of the brand Acqua di Stresa, and Antonio is an artist who works in advertising as a copywriter and photographer. Both love everything behind perfumes and scents, and both wanted to create a very special one. BLOOD is a "no flower" concept that wants to celebrate life from the deepest feelings it may concern.
How did you choose ingredients for compositions related to blood types?
Giovanni & Antonio: Every fragrance composition is a mix of relevant elements of the era in which every blood type came out. 0 is the first blood type, the oldest one, so it has to be deep, strong, like first human beings. Then comes A, when people started to eat vegetables and get more sedentary. Then B, when people started to travel and mix habits and foods. The youngest type is AB, born when people started to mix themselves with different blood types (A+B). The fact you are 0 but you prefer A—it's what we wanted to create, compatibility and its combinations. Like when we talk about real blood types. As a matter of fact, perfume is about compatibility, always.
Every of your fragrances includes metal notes. Is that because they are quite close to the real smell of blood?
Giovanni & Antonio: Yes you're totally right!
And the bottle... why a dropper?
Giovanni & Antonio: When you think of blood, most of the time you may think about a drop or drops, a drop of blood. And the way you put the fragrance on your neck is full of sensuality, a visceral feeling. Not the same result with a common spray...
Who is your perfumer?
Giovanni & Antonio: The two of us worked with Apf France from Grasse, after a huge selection between Italy and France we chose them for the way they work: innovative, brave and unexpected. Together we set up four unique fragrances with a strong personality. (A brand new fragrance experience!)
We have only four blood types, so it seems your range would be limited to four fragrances?
Giovanni & Antonio: Blood is going to be more than four fragrances ;-)

this sounds very stupid..the blood type of a person has nothing to do with what type of scent that person prefers.
I was also quite afraid of these metallic notes, but they are not dominant, and perfumes feel like quality niche interesting perfumes, nothing naturalistic ;o)
I am an O and the notes sound quite good for me but can't stand that metallic taste of blood (especially when you have had a tooth out)! Can't imagine really loving these perfumes because of this. Blood is not a "fragrant" smell to me - If you have a touch of the Draculas guess you would really be "into it".
I'm A but can't stand the smell of basil :(. It's in the same bracket as clove and carnation for me.
Curious to smell all four creations though.
I'm so curious! Does anyone know where this is sold? I'm an A - somehow I expect this A-perfume to smell a little like Isabella Rosselini's Manifesto.
I am O but I think that I would like B perfume more.
But that metallic notes... I usually dislike them in perfumes (and I'm not only thinking of Sécretions Magnifiques).
Anyway, this is a great idea! Congratulations!
p.s..
how / where will these be sold?
Im an A which sounds good, the Basil and star anise offer something special.. Also I like unisex scents, some womens scents are too girly for my tastes..
I was jealous of B (it sounds LOVELY like bottled sex) then I read into the article and the designer mentioned being attracted to the other types is about compatability.. ~ "The fact you are 0 but you prefer A—it's what we wanted to create, compatibility and its combinations. Like when we talk about real blood types. As a matter of fact, perfume is about compatibility, always".
My hubby is blood type B :))
I already posted under Perfume B (MY type, and coincidentally *or was it?* the one that sounds best to me) when they were added to the database here...
Different blood types as scents is a really cool idea (I think) as each "type" has certain foods which are great, okay and not so good for them...so too with notes!
The idea of using a dropper as a delivery system is so "in sync" with the whole concept! I hope these come out in America soon...
HEY: maybe the "travel sprays" could be in graduated (10ml, 15ml, 5ml) medicine type syringes (like you give kids liquid medicine in)...
Kudos to the creators of these scents, and Thanks also to you: Fragrantica, for the interview and press release! :)
anafrankett: There is allready perfumes according to your star sign. I really like the fragrance intended for virgo women, but also the fragrance supposed for capricorn men. :) I think the people responsible for this idea have come up with a good idea, but that doesn´t mean everybody have to like it 100%.
I´m a little worried about the metallic notes, since smells similar to real blood make me ill in my stomach, still I´m curious about the concept. :)
blood -- schmood.
whatevaaahhh...
the compositions seem interesting,though.
O sounds good to me.
as does B.
although that ubiquitous "metallic" note has me a bit worried.
" The fact you are 0 but you prefer A—it's what we wanted to create, compatibility and its combinations. Like when we talk about real blood types."
I love the idea of perfume as wearable art, and furthermore as art! This is a neat concept, but as a lover of perfumes that attract with their smells, it's easy to be skeptical about the notes if these fragrances are about compatability with human skin. I would love to sample them, but that won't happen until they can be found beyond Milan.
Absolutely agree with Cocomademoiselle ;o)
It's just an interesting concept, why not? Founders didn't want to devote it to a certain stereotype (... self-confident young woman with bright personality, bla, bla ;-) but researched blood types from the view I never did, so I am grateful to them for this direction of thinking about blood ;o)
I think it is not about a perfume-personality-mixmatch-thing here.
The perfumers were inspired by different blood types. Sounds to me like a very creative and innovative approach to perfume!
This is going to smash!
Blah. To me this is not creativity - it is the opposite of creativity, using stereotypes (i.e. that people's character depends on their blood type) to fuel the sale of your product. What's next, perfumes according to your horoscope sign?
interesting concept. When will they be available in England?
Hmmm interesting sounding fumes, pity that the hypothesis that the O blood type is the oldest seems to be contradicted by current science. Still I'd try them anyway.
I am another blood type A who doesn't like the sound of the type A notes--or the other ones....Type O sounds most interesting really. Maybe when Type A+ is formulated it will have more appealing notes! Maybe Type A would suit me most, who knows? Maybe they smell better than they sound....
"A" type fragrance has nothing appealing to me.
I love leather, and my blood type is O, so i`ll surely try to sample the O one...
So now after "Eat right for your blood type", it's "Apply the right perfume for your blood type" ... Interesting though not very appealing !
Hmm, I'm an A blood type and what they've chosen to represent me is plenty of notes I don't like.
As interesting as the compositions look, BLOOD sounds like just another easily forgettable gimmicky niche perfume.
I am type A but love the sound of B. Hope I don't develop an immunological reaction if I wear B :D
I wonder if the next perfume would be "Rhesus -", "Rhesus +", "Anemia", "Leukemia", "Leukocytes", etc. The dropper is so unusual.
very interesting! :)
i can't wait to try these, especially type O, which is mine. i like the notes listed for it. a very innovative idea. kudos.
So inovative! I would also like to try this!
Fascinating concept -- although, I have to say: the notes for Type A (mine) don't appeal to me at all. Perhaps when the range is expanded, and I can choose A-, I shall have found my match!!
I'll keep my eye - er: nose - out for this!
Trippy! I'd like to try this.
Vampires will love this concept. That way they will know what you will taste like! Sounds luscious...
