Breath of the Mediterranean - Carthusia, Aromas of the Island of Capri
Carthusia is a small factory on the island of Capri, the tradition and history of which date back to the ancient 1830, when Queen Giovanna I D' Angio' suddenly announced her visit to St. Giaccomo's monastery. The most beautiful bouquet of flowers which were found on the island was prepared in her honour.
Water in which the flowers were placed was not changed for 3 days, so when fallen flowers were removed from water, the prior of the monastery noticed that the water had a scent that he had not been familiar with before. He went to a priest who was an alchemists and let him create the first fragrance of the island of Capri - "Garofilium Silvestre Caprese".

History states that many years afterwards, in 1948, a priest found old perfume formulas and with the Pope's license, took them to a chemist in Turin, where a small laboratory, named Carthusia was founded.
Many fragrant jewels have decorated the perfume house of Carthusia since then. Besides perfumes, this house presents also body lotions, soaps, solid perfumes, scented candles and fragrances for inside spaces.
Their latest fragrance for rooms is a breath of Mediterranean aromas named Carthusia Note di Aria di Capri.
One of the most famous fragrances by this house is Aria di Capri, which introduces sea breeze and rays of sun in a transparent, elegant and simple bottle. It tickles your imagination with scents of jasmine, mimosa, iris, fruity notes of peach, with bay leaf and a mixture of spices – the real and complete mixture of aromas from Capri.
Besides this fragrance, you can read more on perfumes Carthusia Uomo, Numero Uno, Fiori di Capri, Io, Mediterraneo, and Via Camerelle in Fragrantica's encyclopedia.
Note di Aria di Capri, fragrance for rooms, is available in the amount of 100 ml for 45 euro.
