Cannes TFWA 2016: More of the Upcoming Launches

This year at the Duty Free & Travel Retail Global Summit held in Cannes, my colleagues and I had the opportunity to visit numerous perfumery and beauty brands. This exhibition is the place to be to get a sneak peek into the newest and upcoming fragrance launches, both affordable and high end, commercial and niche. It is a pleasure to report on some of those directly from the event. Check out Miguel’s and Sandrina’s reports as well to get the whole picture of the exhibition.




The French wellness-inspired skin care and beauty brand La Sultane de Saba showcased its Orient themed fragrance line, with the newest addition called Voyage Sur La Route d`Udaipur, featuring notes of musk, incense and vanilla. The whole line is done with a wellness in mind and I was pretty impressed with Ancestral Sandalwood, although it is the only one in line marketed specifically for men. The fragrances are accompanied by a broad range of body and skin care products.






Christine Darvin revived its classis cologne collection under the name of “Cologne Authentic”. The line which originates from the late 19th century now includes six new unisex fragrances: citrusy aromatic and chypre Torrentiel, juicy and citrusy Agruma, woody aromatic Cedromai, solar Rayon Vert, aldehydic and aquatic Glazonic and the most feminine one, floral and fruity Matin Floral.



Also belonging to the Panther Group, a family business established in France, is the brand Cottage, famous for its delicious bath and shower line. This year, the line presents Eaux de Toilette that match their famous scents.


The group’s cosmetics brand Institut Arnaud includes an innovative sun care line COPABAÏA which now offers a fragrance – COPABAÏA Esprit d’Amazonie Eau d’Ete, smelling just like their protective sun lotions.





The fragrance house Millenium offers scents for the youngsters. Their Kaloo brand includes alcohol free fragrances for babies and their mothers which come with fluffy toys ("Les Amis") and room diffusers.


Clayeux is for children between 4 and 12 years old, now showcasing a Boy and a Girl Eau de Toilette. Every year there is a different travel set of these two fragrances and this year the sets include headphones.

Kokeshi Parfums, aiming at teenagers and above, have particularly exciting news. The new collection of cutesy doll-like fragrances is done in collaboration with the designer for this kind of esthetics - Jeremy Scott.


Five new “dolls” all represent a Jeremy Scott fashion line and symbolize different things. Bambu is for friendship, Litchee is the scent of love, Cheery brings luck, Lotus symbolizes beauty and Tonka is the perfume of power.





Aquolina TFWA 2016

Selectiva exhibited new launches for the Aqolina brand, Pink Sugar and Paglieri 1876, and it also premiered the Baldinini fragrance line. The iconic Pink Sugar will soon be available in Eau de Parfum; it will be the same fragrance of a richer formula with a higher concentration in a more refined packaging with velvety pink stripes.

Continuing their candy like fragrances tradition, they announced a scent called Luna Park for the spring of 2017. It's a young and fresh black currant candy scent.



The niche line of Paglieri 1876 continues to depict Italian cities and their cultures with two new editions of Bononia and Mediolanum, available in Italy from February 2017. Bononia represents Bologna with fresh, spicy and woody notes, while Mediolanum stands for Milano with floral spicy and oriental tones.

Baldinini perfumes


And at last, Baldinini, the historic Italian fashion house of handmade shoes, comes out with five stylish unisex fragrances. The fragrances embody five different shades: Amber Straps (oriental, floral and slightly gourmand), Blue Straps (bright woody and citrusy), Emerald Straps (floral, green and woody) , Pink Straps (oriental) and Yellow Straps (crisp, flowery and ambery).



Institut Karite

Institut Karité Paris is known for their shea butter products for skin care. Their first fragrances bear the names of their body care collections: Rose Mademoiselle and Cherry Blossom. Available in mini bottles, they are only the first of many to come.




Nike Gold

De Ruy Parfums revisited their best selling Nike Gold fragrances and updates their packaging.


Their new fragrances come under the MTV brand as a pair of MTV Tuned. MTV #Tuned Man is an oriental woody fragrance with a fresh opening of cinnamon and melon, followed by a honey and orange blossom heart and leather, cypriol oil and labdanum in the base. MTV #Tuned Woman is a fruity – floral – gourmand with strawberry, blackberry and musk at the top, may rose, rose and peony in the heart and a base of amber, cashmere and praline.

Parfum Charrier presented Tender Folie as the stand-alone new fragrance and three sets of their famous mini collectibles. The Love Collection is a gift set containing five EDPs in heart- shaped miniatures: Love Mysterious, Love Romantic, Love Seduction , Love Elegant and Love Intense.




Parfums de Provence is a range of five EDTs in honor of the five most popular flowers from Grasse: Rose, Jasmin, Lavande, Mimosa and Violette. Parfums de France Collection Fashion is a pink and silver gift set containing five miniatures of EDPs: Lovely French , Mon Otage , Viva Paris, Magic Rose and Mademoiselle France.




SLA Paris

Serge Louis Alvarez is the make-up artist who founded the SLA Paris makeup brand. He announced and presented his first fragrance line at the exhibition. The bottles are not yet final, but the concept and fragrances are there. The four fragrances are made so that they can be mixed and matched.

Blac can me combined with Noir and Vert can be used with Rouge. Blac or “Deep Silence” symbolizes purity and serenity with a musky, vanilla, woody and spicy fragrance. Noir or “Lovely Devil” is a woody, spicy, leathery and ambery scent of luxury and power. “Liberty Spirit”, which is Vert, exudes optimism and harmony with a green, floral woody and oriental scent. “No Limit” Rouge is an oriental, woody and floral fragrance of seduction and passion.  




gold rush


Parlux previewed the spring 2017 launches of their celebrity and designer brands. After this year’s Gold Rush by Paris Hilton, the next year will start with Gold Rush Man, an oriental fougere – woody with exotic citruses and spices that are supposed to represents liquid gold. The Paris Hilton brand will also include three new editions of her existing fragrances in the Bling Collection: Paris Hilton, Heiress and Can Can.  


Kiss by Rihanna


From the same line as Riri and Crush, the new Rihanna fragrance for early 2017 will be called Kiss by Rihanna, coming in an iced blue bottle and a golden cap. The fragrance will be a white floral with juicy plum, freesia and Asian peony.




Vince Camuto will continue on the existing feminine and masculine lines. Ciao is the new one from the feminine line, coming in the same packaging as the previous editions. The composition is floral – fruity – oriental, inspired by Italian sunshine. Terra is a fresh, aquatic and woody fragrance of the masculine line, coming in the distinctive bottle dressed in brown leather.
