What connects the lovely, charming and flirtatious aromas of Dior's Miss Dior Cherie edition, Yves Rocher Rose Absolue, Cartier Delices, Jesus del Pozo In Black, perfumes by the house of Thierry Mugler B*Men and Le lys…spicy-oriental fragrance Theorema by the house of Fendi, passionate Chopard Madness, Narcisso Rodriguez for Her and many other prominent, characteristic and popular editions? That is definitely perfumer Christine Nagel, who has shared her skills and positive energy with fans of cheerful, powerful, exciting and courageous compositions for a long time.
I have recently paid attention to the perfumers who create the fragrances I chose as my favorites and I was pleasantly surprised by the information that I regularly choose, try and wear several editions developed by Christine Nagel.
Explosive fruity notes, delicate gourmand aromas, strawberries and raspberries in sophisticated, creamy editions, with spices, oriental, delicate caramel, or rich honey could be too accentuated for someone, but they are ideal for my sensibility.
Her wide perfume range varies from the fresh, airy, vigorous, citrusy-aromatic compositions of Cartier Eau de Cartier and Eau de Cartier Concentree, to oriental-spicy editions worth your attention and trials, Fendi Theorema and Armani Prive Ambre Soie, to the luxurious trio of Elixirs by the house of Guerlain introduced last year.
What characterizes several of her editions is a voluptuous, intoxicating and mesmerizing liqueur or wine-like charm which is in perfect balance with flowers and fruit. Liqueur and the bohemian veil of wine are combined with strawberries, raspberries or rose petals, with notes of spices, the depth of patchouli and warm, woody accords, which add unexplainable magic to the fragrances. Her perfumes are never monotonous, but full of energy and life. They are explosively romantic and ultimately feminine. I have an impression that she raises a glass with her fruity-floral compositions and cheers to love, life, energy and the charm of every woman who is capricious and young at heart, who wears a pink coat and differs from trends and everyday life, who is true to herself and chooses her romantic, temperamental world, while showing her artistic skills in all variations with oriental compositions.

She was born in Geneve, Switzerland. Christine Nagel started her work and professional development in Aromatics Creations in Geneve, where she improved in chromatography, which is a technique of separating and analyzing the molecules of a substance. She became familiar with perfume and begn to explore perfumery there. Nagel cooperated with perfumer Michael Almairac, who was practically her tutor and teacher. After that, she moved to live in Paris, where she started working for the house of Quest International. She runs the Fine Fragrance department for Fragrance Resources in Paris nowadays.
What is very important for charming Christine Nagel's carriers are the prestigious awards she won with her more-than-successful compositions Narciso Rodrigues-Narciso for Her from 2004 and Armani Prive Ambre Soie from 2006, as well as the prize for the best perfumer of 2007--the International Fragrance Prize (Coty Award), one year after the same prize was awarded to Italian perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi.

Her masterpiece Narciso Rodriguez for Her was developed in cooperation with perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. It made the house famous and became a real world hit right away. The sex appeal and animalism of the composition remained the main theme of the edition and are as such characteristic of Christine Nagel in a variety of her perfumes. This elegant and flawless perfume is the embodiment of sexuality, without a hint of vulgarity. It is skillfully balanced with a fresh icing of orange, amber and osmanthus, with an animalistic, lustrous layer of musk in a heart of the fragrance, which does not allow you to move your nose from the skin, on a warm base of amber, vanilla and vetiver. This fragrance certainly deserved the reward by the Fifi organization in 2004. After this edition, its EDP version was introduced in 2006, and it is softer, pink and floral in the top, with accords of rose and a juicy peach heart. This version is governed by musk , which is tucked in woody accords discretely, with a powdery, silky trail which stays on your skin for a long time. The EDP edition Narciso Rodriguez for Her, also received the Fifi award, in 2006.

Christine Nagel created one of the fragrances of luxury line Prive by the house of Giorgio Armani. It was rewarded with a Fifi two years later. Armani Prive Ambre Soie, an opulent oriental fragrance is based on amber and patchouli, surrounded with spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves and pepper). This unisex edition represents the luxurious class of Armani's Prive collection in a powerful way.
Newer editions signed by Nagel are Byblos Essence, which has appeared on the market recently, the luxurious Guerlain Elixir trio, as well as the first Galliano perfume John Galliano for Her presented in October 2008 by Dior's creator John Galliano.

Thank you Ivana!
I truly enjoy her fragrances; her work can easily be recognized. If you compare Miss Dior Cherie, Yves Rocher Rose Absolue, Cartier Delices...you will notice that juicy, fruity combination with a mild wine or liqueur-like effect, variations of the theme with a deep, warm, slightly darker base. Jesus Del Pozo, for example, offers that red-wine style, which is very wine-like.
I have not tried her new Galliano, but I can clearly imagine the composition based on its ingredients.
What stands out are floral notes (rose, lily, jasmine), which are typically combined with patchouli, adding a dose of depth, seriousness and earthy tone. Pepper is often used as a decoration of her fragrant compositions.
Her signature on a compositon is certainly a signal and a reason more for me to try a new edition :)
I really enjoy reading about perfumers, their inspiration and work, so this thorough article was a real treat for me! Thank you, Sandrina!
