Designer Mila Schön Passed Over

Famous German designer Mila Schön passed over at the age of 91 on Thursday, September 4th, 2008. Her popularity and reputation in the world of fashion were due to elegant creations with precisely cut edges, simple design and double-layered fabrics.

She was born in Trogir (Trau), Croatia, under the name Maria Carmen Nutrizio, in a wealthy Italian aristocratic family, who moved to Italy during the World War 2. She married Aurelio Schön after the war, in 1958. She opened a small atelier with him in Milan, where they were selling perfumes, men's clothes, accessories, fur, and men's ties. They turned it into a global lifestyle brand afterwards.

Her famous clients were, among others: Jackie Kennedy, Farah Diba, Lee Radziwill and Ira von Furstenberg.

She presented her first collection in 1965, in Pallazo Pitti, Florence, and opened her own fashion store with her own creations a year later in Via Montenapoleone, Milan.

Her popularity on the basis of her creativity and art was constantly growing. A celebration of 50 years of her work with a retrospective in Palazzo Reale in Milan was planned. Schon is survived by her son Giorgio Schön and his children.
