Dior Dolce Vita – Fragrance that Brings Happiness

Dior Dolce Vita – Fragrance that Brings Happiness

06/24/09 23:14:07

By: Sandra Raičević-Petrović

What presents true happiness for you and how would you pour that moment of happiness into a perfume? Birth of a child, first kiss, unexpected meeting, hidden glance, taste of first apricots before summer, friends, good intentions, positive thought, safety, freedom…

Some of my friends use this fragrance. They like it and it likes them! The perfume leaves a trace, makes fragrant paths in city crowd while flirting with passers-by who turn around to see where the trace is coming from, who is wearing it, who smells that well. I always smile when I feel its aromas in the air, it is so enchanting! In winter, when it's cold and snowy, this perfume warms the air like sunshine, tingles you, sparkles and, when it is warm, the perfume becomes juicier and sunnier, close and pleasant, like an embrace!

Dolce Vita is a fragrance of a woman who is self confident, who has realized herself, a Lady who knows where to go, whom to choose, what she wants! You can wear it on various occasions and it does not demand special mood, since this beauty is the scent of good mood. Happiness lies in sweet accords of cinnamon, spicy nuances of cardamom add a twist, while juiciness is accentuated by zest of peach, apricot and citruses. Floral bouquet of magnolias, which are the key ingredient of the entire composition (along with discrete accompanying tacts of rose and lily) sounds very harmonious and secure. Warmth of woody aromas (palisander, sandalwood and cedar), along with coconut, heliotrope and vanilla leave a comfortable woody-gourmand expression. I would not describe the composition of Dolce Vita on basis of its ingredients and their nuances, since I believe I would obstruct magic and harmony this way…

I was thinking about how to bring this perfume closer to those who have not tried it yet. If I tell you how luxurious and eternal it is, it will repulse all those who want an everyday fragrance; and if I say that this fragrance will thrill you every day, I weill also make a mistake since you would think that the fragrance is simple, so I decided to present Dolce Vita in a different way.

Many have written about this perfume that it is a true classic, fragrance of rich ladies and luxurious life. I truly believe that its fragrant notes are dedicated to woman who is able to recognize sweet life and enjoy an ordinary day, creating that magical moment – sweet and lovely, rich in quality, which will be remembered for years. This is the reason why I want to travel with you and tell you more about places Dolce connects me with, how important it is for me, where it takes me and reminds me of faces, enriches me once again with the moment I have already lived through…

Italian Riviera, paved promenade and old city walls decorated with heavy clusters of yellow flowers… Summer dress with sunflowers, charming coffee bar and table for two. Dolce Vita tingles imagination, sweetens and decorates the moment. Ancient Budapest and a walk by Danube, red autumn and cheeks, view towards the old town, soft, warm coat and his embrace which remembers Dolce Vita…

Warm, morning sun and city crowd in the center of Istanbul, smell of candies in a nearby shop, sweet zests of baklava and candied fruit, friend who chooses the prettiest and the biggest cake with chocolate and almonds, while Dolce Vita flutters in the air and follows my trace. My Belgrade and cold winter dusk over the city and lights in flamboyant window shops. A new friendship and again her trace, trace of Dolce Vita! My child comes closer to me and sniffing me says: "Mommy, this perfume smells like you!" Today, after so many years, I am still faithful to it and my faithfulness is rendered. Its opulent, fragrant structure intoxicates and delights, while its elegant and shimmering juice makes it eternaly mine.

The flacon of Dolce Vita is a beautiful glass bowl with imprinted spheres, which create a game of cutting light. Golden neck of the bottle represents luxurious essences, which this perfume wears as some pretentious lady, and is created of several golden rings. Its stopper is designed to follow form of the flacon and to crown the beauty designed by Serge Mansau.

The curves and form fit your palm perfectly. The liquid is coloured in yellow, just like the sun, and the outer carton has the same nuance. Perfumers of this edition are Pierre Bourdon and Maurice Roger, and the year of the edition is 1994. It is important to say that the essences stay on the skin for a very long time while a wonderful aura is wrapping you.

Dior describes this perfume as a nostalgic return to Italian coast, drive in cabriolet, scent of happiness and peaceful life; and I, simply, as the fragrance that always cheers me up.

Thank you for this wonderful article! I've loved Dolcevita since the beginning in spite of the "ladylike" comments! I was 25 and enjoyed every drop, especially in wintertime! I don't wear it now because it reminds me of a certain period of my life, but who knows? I could change my mind and decide that after all a happy classy scent deserves not to be left alone :-)
