Frapin's Newest Fragrance: Speakeasy

By: Jodi Battershell

The house of Frapin, known for their fine cognacs as well as their remarkable fragrance collection, debuted their newest fragrance, Speakeasy, at the Elements Showcase in New York. Speakeasy was inspired by the illicit nightclubs of Prohibition-era America, known for their decadence and joyful excess. This unisex fagrance also recalls classic men's fragrances with traditional notes of leather and tobacco. Supporting the mix are mint, musk, bergamot and styrax.

The fragrance will be on the market from September 2012, in the characteristic 3.3 oz. Frapin flacon.

According to what it says, it was inspired by certain nightclubs...maybe I'm mistaken but I hope guys can wear this to nightclubs...the notes sound like its right up my alley. Yeah buddy.

@Patrickdisco, great quote from Frapin, and many of the perfume houses we spoke with today share that same sentiment. It's nice to see the industry catching up with what all of us perfumistas (of both genders) have already known and practiced for years. :-)

I love frapin and how their perfumes revolve around booze. Great combo. 1697 is def on my full bottle list and I'm looking forward to sampling this. I wonder who the nose is? Hope it's Bertrand.

I also want to add this fabulous quote, from the company: "Frapin dismisses separate fragrances for men and women as a “marketing trick.” 'Men can wear flowers, and women can wear vetiver or woods,' Frapin says of scent stereotypes. “We strive to free people from choosing [based on] how you are told but by how it makes you feel.”
