GILDED LILY by INEKE

We met Ineke Ruhland at a newly opened Nordstrom store in Santa Monica (LA, California) and had a pleasure to be introduced to her new fragrance—Gilded Lily.

The fragrance is inspired by an ancient and very fragrant species of lily—the Goldban lily (Lilium auratum), one of genuine lilies from Northern Japan. It’s a very large flowers smell sweet and strong. In Japan this quite common wild lily is called mountain lily (yama yuri).

Ineke named the fragrance Gilded Lily, after the famous Shakespeare’s phrase, following her thought on the art of perfumery: to perfect perfection. Ineke made her own perfect fragrance by mixing styles (elegant chypre reborn in a new world) and stories from different parts of the world.

When you wish to feel like a lady, most probably your choice falls on a chypre fragrance, carefully wrapping you with noble sophisticated notes, convincing everybody of your refined taste and lavish background.

Chypre, which we often relate to the past and high-class perfumery, is the best choice for a theme of perfection. Pineapple and rhubarb add a modern fruity fresh impulse to the intense lily heart. My imagination paints it as pure dazzling white, generously noble, frozen in the perfect moment of its bloom. The lily is endless in this composition. The decorations change, but lily saturates the chypre melody with her warmth all the way.

Ineke Ruhland is a perfumer from San Francisco. She learned the art of perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles (France), and after several years of study, Ineke founded her own perfume house in 2006 with a debut perfume named After My Own Heart. All the perfumes she has made to date come in alphabetical order. So far Ineke has reached the letter "G." Gilded Lily is already formulated to perfection and is waiting to meet perfume lovers in October 2010.
