My Life, My Dream, My Passion are three perfumes from a very interesting collection by the house of Gres, and they were launched in honour of Marlene Dietrich. The collection Hommage a Marlene Dietrich was presented in 2007, as a game on components, colours, art, history... Her eccentricity and elegance inspired creators to offer chic perfumes with a breath of past Parisian times, but interpreted in modern way.

Marie Magdalene Dietrich was an American actress, singer and entertainer, born on December 27th 1901 in Schoneberg, a district in Berlin, Germany and she died on May 6th 1992 in Paris, France.

She started to work as a cabaret singer, choir singer and actress in German movies in 1920. She married Rudolf Sieber in 1923, who she met on the set of the movie Tragödie der Liebe, and in 1924 she gave birth to her only daughter, Maria Elisabeth Sieber.

Some of the famous roles Marlene was brilliant in were: The Blue Angel, filmed in 1930 and the movie Morocco, which is her first movie filmed in America, in 1930, Shanghai Express, Blonde Venus, A Foreign Affair, Golden Earrings, as well as many others. She received American citizenship in 1937.

As homage to her personality and artistic contribution she left behind, a stamp with her face was published in 1997 in Germany. The house of MontBlanc produced a limited series of Marlene Dietrich pencils, which are made of platinum and decorated with blue sapphire. Three perfumes were created in honour of her personality and work and they are named: Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Life, Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Dream and Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Passion.

Gres Hommage a Marlene Dietrich CollectionAdvertising poster that represents this interesting collection puts Marlene’s spiritual posture from the movie The Shanghai Express in the first plan, in a game of different colours. The colours stand for various moods and roles. They are created in the same form with a discrete game on colours on details of the bottle. The wish for metamorphosis of feelings and change of female character is perfectly painted with change of nuances of colours.

Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Dream was presented in 2007 as a 'nobles' classic with tradition of the Parisian "Haute perfumery", as timeless Marlene’s "The Power to Be a Vision". It seduces with unconditioned elegance and is the perfect olfactory representation of the „beloved goddess“. The perfume was created in cooperation with two perfumers Jean-Christophe Herault and Sidonie Lancesseur.

It opens with a breeze of Italian mandarin, pineapple, melon, black currant, apple and cloves in the top notes. The heart encompasses accords of Casablanca lily, rose, violet, lily of the valley, orange blossom and heliotrope. The base notes introduce sandalwood, iris, vanilla, amber and musk. The perfume is available in an elegant bottle as 60 ml EDP.

Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Life was presented in 2007. It stands for the self-confident side of the actress with a motto: " The Desire To be a Soldier". This chypre fragrance is a work of perfumer Maria Salamagne, and it is decorated with orange blossom, wisteria and pink grapefruit in the top notes. The heart blooms with jasmine, heliotrope and cedar, while the base notes include patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, labdanum and benzoin. It is available in an elegant bottle as 60 ml EDP.

Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Passion was also introduced in 2007. Its passionate composition was created by Jean-Christophe Herault and Sidonie Lancesseur in floral rhythm. This creation was composed to awake and accentuate the 'vamp' in each woman. It was presented with a motto: "The good Fortune of being compassionate". The perfume opens with scents of apple, cinnamon and lily of the valley, with orange blossom in the heart and the base notes of amber, vanilla and musk. Available as 60 ml EDP.

It is worth mentioning that design of the prestigious collection was done by artistic studio Aesthete. The collection has been on the market since spring 2008 and the price is 59 euro for a 60 ml EDP.

“If she had nothing more than her voice she could break your heart with it. But she has that beautiful body and the timeless loveliness of her face. It makes no difference how she breaks your heart if she is there to mend it.”

Ernest Hemingway
