
Gwen Stefani – The Eternal Girl Introduces Fragrant Collection Harajuku Lovers
In September 2008 Gwen Stefani, in cooperation with Coty, prepares to launch a surprise of five fragrance collection devoted to Harajuku fans. The fragrances will come in a form of five small dolls, each of which has its own personality, style, and fragrant note.
Gwen Stefani is for some time now fascinated with fashion style of Harajuku youngsters (the area around Harajuku station on the Yamanote line in the Shuibuya ward of Tokyo) from which she drew her music and style inspiration... her music reflects her fascination with this Harajuku style, as well as her streetwear line, purses, watches...
There had to be five fragrances as each of them represents different styles of women. Each of the dolls consists of two parts. The upper part is the doll itself, fitted on a pedestal-like glass base filled with the fragrance. The outer boxes give a story of the perfume doll enclosed inside.
Harajuku Lovers collection includes fragrances Love, Lil' Angel, Music, Baby and G, and each of them is devoted to one of her back vocals, Harajuku Girls, reflecting their fashion and life styles, while one represents her.
Love is described as a nice, soft and caring fragrance, created in cooperation with Yves Cassar and Pascal Gaurin of IFF. It opens with notes of bergamot, pink pomelo, peach, and bamboo leaf. The heart reveals water peony, silky notes of rose, jasmine sambac, nectarine blossom, white narcissus, and Egyptian jasmine, while the base follows with ylang-ylang petals, creamy vanilla orchid, sensual musk and light woods accords.
Lil` Angel is created in cooperation with Christophe Raynard of Givaudan. It is inspired by a woman who always cared for others but is not a saint. In top it reveals fruity aromas of raspberry, cranberry, black currant, and pineapple. The heart unifies gourmand notes of candied violet, pear blossom, and sugared rose, while the base introduces lollipop aroma, Hinoki wood and crystal amber.

Music is composed by Honorine Blanc of Firmenich. The top notes bring fresh aromas of peach and clementine, the heart blends floral notes of jasmine sambac, sweet pea and honeysuckle. The base introduces vanilla, musk, and woodsy accords. The scent of Music is charismatic and brings joy.
Baby is innocent and exciting, created in cooperation with Harry Fremont of Firmenich. It brings a bouquet of freesia, roses, and sweetly fresh bergamot in the top. The heart is dominated by floral notes of orange blossom, Tiare flower, and jasmine petals, while the base caresses with white musk, soft wood, heliotrope, vanilla and violet.
And finally, G, (the first letter of Gwen's name) a modern and lively scent, created by Steve Demercado. It features mandarin, fresh coconut, and apple peel in the top, jasmine sambac, freesia and magnolia in the heart, and coconut cream, white sandalwood and cottonwoods.
Each fragrance will be available in two sizes – 10ml (0.34 fl.oz.) for US$25 and 30ml (1 fl.oz.) for US$45. In addition, this collection will be available as a collection of solid perfumes in a coffret which will retail at US$60.
Printed materials for the promotional campaign will be shot by Craig McDean. The campaign will start with the fashion week in September 2008 via fashion and lifestyle magazines. In line with that, Coty is preparing TV spots for the collection. Gwen Stefani works on preparations for a new No Doubt album and working on spring 2009 for L.A.M.B.
