Hilde Soliani Teatro Olfattivo

Hilde Soliani, an artist from Parma, launched her perfume line named Teatro Olfattivo last year (2008). The line is dedicated to theater in Parma. Just like the previous line, Ti Amo, Teatro Olfattivo counts five fragrances: Sipario, Bell'Antonio, Vecchi Rossetti, Stecca and Mangiami dopo Teatro.

Teatro Olfattivo includes mainly gourmand fragrances. One of them carries the name 'Meal after Theater' (Mangiami dopo Teatro), while others were inspired by Hilda's favourite cocktail, pina colada (Sipario); Stecca is a steadfast scent of green tomato leaf; Bell'Antonio is a comfortable and sensual scent of coffee and tobacco. An obvious connection of theater series with food and drink is Hilde's very curious and courageous move. I had to feel the fragrances of this series in the appropriate ambient, theater.

I forgot about the fragrances at the beginning of the play till its end, except for a short break, which confirmed Hilda's thought that theater is an event, a festival which begins before the play and continues behind the walls of theater. The scent of perfume connects in a comfortable way with pleasant refreshment like drink or dessert and creates an atmosphere of absolute pleasure.

Hilde Soliani differs from many perfumers who list ingredients of their collection in that she considers such detailed description redundant and even absurd. Is it really necessary to know which colours a painter used when looking at his painting?

Bell'Antonio is the favourite in the series of Teatro Olfattivo, chosen by perfume bloggers. Aroma of coffee is followed by tobacco, a classic harmony, which is comfortable and sensual, dedicated to Hilda's father, Antonio, and his habit of drinking coffee and smoking cigars after a play. This might be the only situation for me when I associate tobacco with enjoyment and pleasure.

The imagined harmony of two sensual components is an excellent choice for men and women, but I would rather recommend it to men, since masculine skin participates in the composition equally, like the third element. An incredibly masculine mixture!

Bell'Antonio together with Vecchi Rossetti will smell really well in a closed room, since they are intimate and quiet, they assist your thinking, especially among spiritual theater walls.

Vecchi Rossetti is a soft and slightly sad scent of actress' old wardrobe, the place of magnificent transformations and enormous emotions, composed of sweet-powdery notes of make-up, inevitable flowers given by fans and dust resting in corners of an old room.

Stecca or Mistake is an honest, funny and provocative scent of tomato leaves. It is very loud and straightforward, inspired by the custom of throwing tomatoes on actors by unsatisfied audience. Green and encouraging scent of tomato is rarely dominant in perfume compositions. But when it is, it cannot go unnoticed. Stecca is not just green, but very juicy, like a vitamin salad, which exhilarates with its openness.

Sipario (Curtains) captured me with its carefree gourmand notes, which please me and relax like real alcohol cocktail piña colada, Hilde Soliani's favourite. Sweet pineapple, coconut cream and cheerful rum create a magical mixture, which is equally good to smell and to taste.

Mangiami Dopo Teatro (Meal after Theater) creates an atmosphere of friendly conversation along with melon dessert, popular in Parma. Sweet, juicy and fresh melon turned out to be the perfect fixture of memories. Conversation of thrilled friends helps to balance emotions and formulate their attitude, while served melon captures reliably another nice event in their memory.

SeriesTeatro Olfattivo is very picturesque; born from beautiful memories and invited to find compassion in us, who are to judge the fragrances.

Just like in the first series Ti Amo, Hilde presents herself like painter in perfumery, who realizes her thought in expressionistic style with clear and emotional moves. Her fragrances were obviously not created in order to fit into your style like a detail, just like paintings are not painted to fit into a certain ambient.

Great article Jeca, I enjoyed reading it. :) I've tried Hilda's perfumes of Ti Amo collection and I really hope that new Teatro Olfattivo are interesting as her first editions.

I'm attracted to Vecchi Rosseti this time, because it might keep all emotions of actress, her powdery dreams before play, or successes and adrenalin after the play. That room might keep her secrets, her dresses, makeup, and it's full of flowers. This fragrance could be romantic, very emotional, connect with her inner world.

Theater is really inspirative and such a good theme for perfume collection.:)
