Jo Malone introduces a new limited edition collection of fragrances named London Rain, launching in March of 2014. The collection is inspired by the London rain, classified into four types. The fragrances Rain & Angelica, White Jasmine & Mint, Wisteria & Violet and Black Cedarwood & Juniper each denotes a different kind of rainy weather.

Rain & Angelica represents early dawn London parks filled with dew. It capture accords of rain, fresh lime, angelica and vetiver. White Jasmine & Mint is inspired by outpourings of afternoon clouds that drench gardens exuberant with flowers. The scent is made from fresh mint leaves, heirloom jasmine and mate leaf.

Wisteria & Violet symbolizes gentle morning showers, soaking the purple wisteria cascading over London stone walls. It includes notes of water lily, wisteria, violet and patchouli. Black Cedarwood & Juniper evokes midnight London showers. It is modern, urban, edgy and dark, consisting of intense aromas of cumin, chili leaves, juniper and cedar.

The fragrances are available as 100 ml colognes.

They just don't grab me. The ingredients don't feel London to me. And how will rain be represented? Hmmm.

I really like Jo Malone in terms of a mainstream brand. Pomegranate Noir is my favorite of all time.
The Intense collection was nice, the Rain collection looks promising.

The elusive scent of geosmin and petrichor...I hope that even an idea of that is captured in those bottles; one can dream, I suppose.

I loved Jo Malone White Lilac and Ginger. Hope there are samples made available. Maybe the longevity will be better?

There was already a White Jasmine and Mint...2007 in the database. Same fragrance in a new bottle?
Wish they release some smaller bottles not just 100ml.

Haven, I'm not trashing the brand. I'm just saying that since it was sold to EL, it took a different turn. The fragrances are still great, but it's become more of a brand for mass appeal, rather than have the backing of the unique creativity of when Jo Malone created the fragrances herself. I have no judgement towards anyone who likes anything. It's all personal preference in the end, be it playboy fragrances to a 65,000€ specially made fragrance for you from Guerlain. I was just responding to someone else's comment myself. There's still a nose behind these new fragrances, but unlike when Jo Malone was running the show, the perfumers have to follow guidelines and the dream of someone else.

Nonetheless, jovejove, some people still like Jo Malone fragrances because they smell good to them, even if notes are separated. If you choose not to like the business model and prefer to buy fragrances with passion and inspiration, don't buy from Jo Malone and continue to patronize the brands you find fit your perfume philosophy. It is that simple.

Why four and not one of significant quality you ask?! It's because Estée Lauder wants to make money, rather than make fragrances out of passion and inspiration. It's very different from when Jo Malone was the creative mind behind the brand. The glimmer behind the brand was that you were wearing something that came directly from the perfumers heart and now the line is just like any other money maker out there. The drive is part of what makes lines like Francis Kurdjian so successful; you're wearing the perfumers art form without outside influences to fully restrict them. It's understandable as to why Jo Malone launched her new line, Jo Loves, because as an artist, you don't like to take the back seat. This is part of why Guerlain is so fantastic too (prior to Wasser, but he's doing a good job); it's been in a family of perfumers for generations and has inspired many people through their artistic style.

Other perfumers that still have it going on;
Serge Lutens
Andy Tauer
Mona di Orio
Neil Morris

The list is definitely longer than that, but those are ones that have control over their own lines and self produce what is launched. It's like a musician/singer that composes their own music v. Someone who just performs someone else's composition.
