Judith Leiber (born as Judith Peto) in 1921 in Budapest, Hungary is a world renowned designer in creation of haute-couture purses.
She is the first woman who joined craftsmen who handmade purses for women in Budapest. She was a Jew, but managed to avoid holocaust in the WW2, in that her father saved her with a document he had (Swiss shutzpass), which is now kept in The Holocaust Museum in Washington DC.

Ludith Leiber started to hand make purses in her house and later in a small factory owned by her friend after the war. She immigrated to the USA in 1948 together with her husband, American soldier, Gerson Leiber, and worked for other designer houses till 1963, when she decided to finally start a company of her own, "The Leiber Company". She focused on luxurious design of leather evening purses and accessories.
Sophisticated evening purses, their versions for day, special, unusual purses with sharp edges, made of crystal are just a part of her rich and luxurious offer. Her combination of leather and charming, sparkling gems has been in center of attention for 40 years.

Museum of "Fine Arts" in Houston and "Los Angeles Museum of Arts" treasure her evening purses which were worn by the First Lady in 1953 at the Presidential inauguration. Many royal customers constantly buy Judith Leiber's creations. We can often see jewelry and purses by this prestigious house on Red carpet.
Besides that, jewelry found on her website is also precious and made of the finest fabrics, white 18 quarat gold, gems, sapphire, rubies... They are of high quality and with a classy touch.
She designs shoes and sunglasses, as well. Each piece carries a scent of luxury.
I must present her perfume which arrived on the market in September 2007. Its name is Leiber, its bottle looks like a beautiful, valuable piece of jewelry, which is luxurious and classy. It is designed to look like an Asscher cut diamond.
The perfume was designed by Karine Dubreuil, as floral-oriental, and she put elegant freshness of Italian bergamot, apricot, gentle and modern red berries, pimento leaves and magnolia in the top notes, which intertwine seductively with notes of the heart: intoxicating Turkish rose, white gardenia and jasmine. The base fondles with soft vanilla, musk and amber, with a touch of cedar and patchouli. It is available as 30 ml and 50 ml EDP.
I would like to add that Judith Leiber cooperated with the house of Estee Lauder on design of some of their gorgeous boxes for solid perfume and powders, some of which are: Little Chick White Linen Judith Leiber Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compact (2004), Bejeweled Rooster Intuition Estee Lauder Judith Leiber Solid Perfume Compact (2005), Estee Lauder Crystal Radiant Dreams Powder Compact - Designed and Signed for Estee Lauder by Judith Leiber.
Judith Leiber retired from the fashion scene in 1998, even though her impact on purses and accessories design continues.
Some of her original designer pieces are still being sold. Her collection of purses is exhibited in museums all over the world. There is a book named ”The Artful Handbag”, with a rich history of the company and it can be found in all 4 boutiques of Judith Leiber. The boutiques are situated in New York, Atlanta, Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California.
On top of that, all products can be found and bought on Judith Leiber's official website, at Neiman Marcus', Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman shops.
