Les Colognes Hermes: Eau de Pamplemousse Rose, Hermes Eau de Gentiane Blanche and Hermes Eau d`Orange Verte

Hermes has presented three fragrant EDTs for men and women in May 2009 (Collection: Les Colognes Hermes). Their concept was envisaged by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena and they relate to famous fragrance Eau de Cologne Verte from 1979, which is the first cologne by the house of Hermes.

The new, fresh trio composed of natural aromas and very pleasant compositions shows the perfumer's artistic expression and sensibility, which is in connection with class of the house and quality of their essences. Jean-Claude Ellena's classic style has intertwined three fragrances in three stories based on colour and base, as an echo of inspiration for natural aromas, symbols and style of the house.

Eau d'Cologne Verte is an eau de cologne presented back in 1979 (nose: Francoise Caron), as an intensive and strong explosion of citrusy aromas mixed with the scent of fresh twiggs and herbs. The new Eau d'Cologne Verte 2009 begins with a similar, luminous explosion of citruses, flowers and green freshness, in harmony with currant leaves and fruity nuances. The fragrance encompasses: orange, mandarin, lemon, mint, along with black currant, oak moss and patchouli. It is available as 50, 100, 200 and 400ml edc.

Eau de Pamplemousse Rose has a classical structure, with citruses in the main role, combined with rose, by Jean-Claude Ellena. This modern and sophisticated interpretation of citruses theme intertwines their sparkles with a molecule by the house of Firmenich-Rhubofix, which possesses a very fresh, woody-spicy, floral scents and rose scent. The fragrance includes the following aromas: lemon, pink grapefruit and rhubofix. This fragrance is available as 100 and 200ml edc.

The third fragrant story, Eau de Gentiane Blanche, does not refer to traditional notes of EDCs. It is composed without citruses, as a complex and demanding structure, which emphasizes elegance and character. The fragrance includes white musk aromas with gentiana plant, as well as iris and incense. Just like the other two perfumes, Eau de Gentiane Blanche can be found as 100 and 200ml (3.4 and 6.8 oz) edc.

Under Philippe Mouquet's instructions, design of the three flacons from collection Colognes Hermes was created. They are shaped in three nuances of green: vibrant green, grey-green and dark green. The fragrances are available as splash version.

I was very impressed with the Eau de Gentiane, but such a price for an Eau de Cologne is too much of a luxury when other full-bodied niche scents can be had at the same price. I would definitely buy if an online discount fragrance website offered it in the future.
