Massachusetts and Hawaii by United Scents of America

The New Jersey- based fragrance house of United Scents was founded by Samantha Sherwin and Sasha Bertran, and has launched five fragrances so far—New York, New Jersey, Texas, Florida and California. The house has decided to develop their brand further by launching two more fragrances—Hawaii and Massachusetts. Bertran explains the aim of their collection of fragrances: “There’s no better sense of accomplishment than when somebody tells us that we did their state proud and it brought them back to that place.”

The fragrance for women, Hawaii, was based on the experiences of 20 couples who spent their honeymoons there. The perfume is described as a blend of tropical flowers of the leis and the sweet smell of pineapples and palm trees. Initial notes open with pink plumeria and night-blooming jasmine, developing with aromas of pineapple, jasmine and sweet coconut palm.

The version for men, Massachusetts, is described as the line’s first “true masculine” fragrance. It was developed on the basis of associations that local people had with their state. The perfume therefore incorporates such notes as bergamot, tart cranberry, jasmine, Northern Red Oak and tobacco leaf.

The fragrances will cost $58 and will be accompanied with scented candles, $25 each. Hawaii and Massachusetts will hit the shelves in February 2013.
