Miss Dior Couture Edition is a limited modern interpretation of a classic for 2011. This edition is inspired by the original Miss Dior fragrance, which was launched by Christian Dior as an expression of his “new look” in 1947. Miss Dior Couture Edition represents a touch of elegance, grace and high fashion, as well as joie de vivre of today's young women.
This modern chypre-floral composition is signed by the in–house perfumer Francois Demachy. Rich and fresh citrus aromas from the opening include notes of bergamot, orange and mandarin, and gradually develop into a floral harmony of jasmine and rose absolute. The final accords of patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver give the chypre character to the fragrance.
Top notes: bergamot, orange, mandarin
Heart: jasmine, rose
Base: patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood

The bottle design is reminiscent of Miss Dior Cherie EDP edition, with a special luxury detail that is a hand sewn, hand tied, pale pink satin bow at its neck. The face of the fragrance is actress Natalie Portman.
Dior, shame on you for being so deceptive, wishy washy and gratuitous. You have surpassed flankers by making a reboot of your own rebooted flanker. To say the least, this reflects poorly on the company. I can't even imagine what long-time lovers of Miss Dior, (not MDC), are feeling or will soon feel! Those that do not read here are going to go for their purchase of their beloved fragrance and instead of getting Miss Dior, they will get what exactly? WTF?!? Absurd.
I pride myself on never typing up a "non review" here on one of my favorite websites, (I love you Fragrantica!), but I just cannot help myself. Like many others, I have gone from confused to pissed to downright OVER IT. I have about 3 little sprays left of the original Miss Dior Cherie, circa 2005. It is in a small sample spray, as I never purchased a bottle of that eccentric, quirky fragrance with it's strawberry jam smeared over buttery toast note. While I was busy playing catch up and getting my favorite goodies from other fragrance houses, I expected MDC to be there. It was, after all, a best-selling fragrance like Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle. Besides, I remained on the fence. Did I *really* love that eccentric, quirky fragrance in that lovely bottle with the silver bow? At first, I thought, "No. I don't like this. It just isn't ME." Later, I asked, "Why, then, when I take out my spray sample, can I NOT stop compulsively pressing my nose to my wrist all day long? Wait a minute! I actually enjoy this perfume enough to call it love! It's not something I would want every day or even every week. But it is something that I definitely want." By the time I came to this realization and had the money set aside to commit to purchasing my very own full bottle, I read here of it's reformulation. I was worried, but certain that I would be able to find a bottle of the old juice.
Still, I had to be sure so I requested small samples from three seperate locations. I wanted to come home and compare each sample with what my dwindling vial of the original. Here is where the confusion began. My S-----A sample smells "off," (March 2011). It goes on smelling burnt, sharp and stale. Out of several dozen samples from S-----A, I have only experienced this "perfume gone bad" thing a few times. Though I don't know the explanation, I can only assume it has to do with some perfumes being exposed for long periods to the bright lights and air sans their protective caps or tops. At first, I thought that the S-----A sample was just the reformulation and I was shocked at how terrible it was. Luckily, I had my two other samples, (one of which was like pulling teeth to obtain). I tested both of the others. The one from Nords was definitely the 2011 version. It was nice but boring. Basically, patchouli with some juicy orange and a hint of strawberry. Gone was/is that quirky caramel popcorn and jammy strawberry. 2011 MDC is "fresh" and could be worn by anyone. It lacks depth, character and charisma. It also lacks any power. On my skin, one spray of 2005 MDC just lingers forever and then some. 2011 MDC dries down very quickly, turns into a safe whisper and completely disappears within 3 hours.
Finally, my samples from two other dept. stores were obviously the original formula or at the very least, the 2007 version. They smelled very close, if not identical to my precious "old" sample. As I type this, I haven't even gotten to the most frustrating element of this whole nonsense and I suspect I am not alone in what I am about to write. In two states, (California and Texas), and over 6 different retail locations, not ONE SINGLE Sales Associate has heard ANYTHING about the 2011 reformulation. In fact, when I tell them, I am met with either "Really? Are you sure it isn't just different packaging?" or more often, "Nothing has changed with Miss Dior Cherie. I have sold countless bottles and all of my customers are happy...no one but YOU has noticed any difference. You are mistaken." When I insist that it is different and offer to direct them to this site for proof, they turn defensive and at times, downright pissy towards me! I spent enough years working in Retail Sales to know when someone is brushing me off, rolling their eyes and sneaking behind a counter to talk sh!t about the paranoid customer.
So, what am I to do? I know for a fact that there is a half-full bottle of the old juice on display at my local D------'s. I actually offered to pay full price for that half-used up tester bottle. I have no other way to know for certain which version I am getting! The Sales Manager was firm and told me that there is no way she would sell me that tester...that she "can't." Puh-lease! Hell, she could say the bottle broke, zero it out of inventory and pocket the $80+ bucks. haha! Just sayin'. Instead, she and everyone else tells me that what they have on display is the *same exact* product as what they have for sale behind the counter and therefore, I must purchase a new, unopened bottle. Since they refuse to listen to me or show any interest in educating themselves and clearly, Dior has no interest in educating their retailers, I refuse to waste everyone's time by purchasing a new bottle that may or may not be what I want. At this point, it is coming up on almost one year since the reformulation and the odds of me getting the oldie is pretty small, right? I would have to open it, spray it, realize it is not the product I want and return it on the spot. That would just be more stress than it's worth. And honestly, I know for sure that any SA would certainly be beyond annoyed with me for doing that.
Now the confusion deepens as the "Cherie" is being dropped and if this past year is any indication of future experiences, I am going to be told that this "reboot" is only a packaging change, blah blah blah. I suppose for the "casual" perfume wearer, the 2011 version may seem the same...or if they notice a difference but no one has told them any different, they chalk it up to new bottle vs. their older bottle or maybe they think their nose is wrong...or their skin chemistry has changed. Hell, I don't know what they think. How can customers and Sales Associates NOT detect the clear difference? Ladies and Gentleman, I think I can speak for the majority of "non-casual" 'fume heads when I proclaim: THE NOSE DOES NOT LIE.
I realize this is not a review and it may be borderline rant-like, but I just had to express my frustration with this whole Miss Dior Cherie debacle. I don't have any personal friends that will get where I am coming from like my fellow Frangrantica members. So, please accept my apology for breaking my own rule. I have vented rather than reviewed, but it's finally off of my chest and though it may be annoying to a few, I am certain that some of you will empathize with my experience regarding MDC. At this point, I am so annoyed by the whole thing that even that quirky, eccentric juice isn't even enough to warrant one more blank stare or dismissive denial.
Where can I buy this? Know where to get it online?
Miss dior and miss dior cherie are two different perfumes. All are talking about M.D.cheries different versions. Its miss diors another version not miss dior cheries....I guess it will help. But i dont understand why all the bottles are similar. Its really confusing.
Woman on the verge here... ARRRGGGHHH!!! Miss Dior Cherie (sugar-swill) is apparently now re-named simply as "Miss Dior"- And adding insult to injury, in MDC's bottle.
Dior's webpage differentiates between the new MD, vs. the "originale" MD. I need original Miss Dior! So, right now it's only available in the "originale" extrait (pure parfum) @ $130 per 1/2 oz., or $90 for 100 ml (3.4 oz) EdT. That's fine, although I REALLY prefer an EdP strength too. My reall worry is that Dior is going to d/c the original (1947) Miss Dior frag. entirely. Has anyone been able to ascertain whether the (approximate) 1947 version will be continued? I will be broken-hearted, lost, w/o it! Dioressence is also sooo HTF, and now available only in the EdT- OMG what a gorgeous scent. When Gucci Envy (original) was d/c'd, I contacted Gucci Fragrance(attempted, anyway) to voice that there is a cult following, and that it should NOT be d/c'd. Naturally, I got the polite brush-off. LMVH mass-marketing is dumping it's prior devotee's. I don't live near a major city, but will have to travel, to search out newer perfume houses for winning frag's (ie, Lutens). Just venting- Oh how I LOVE Miss Dior, Diorissimo, Dioressence... And several Guerlain's, as well as the recently departed (reformulated, presumably ruined) Chanel #19... Any suggestions for other fine fragrance discoveries?
STOP IT - Not another bloody Miss Dior............
Haven't we all had just about enough of this endless rehashing.
first is was numerous editions of miss dior cherie - taking a delightful scent and turning it into a reworked piece of shit. And now you want to go the same way with Miss Dior. WHY???? Oh God Why?
----------------------
Dior, I remember when you used to excite me and have me begging for more. Today you only infuriate me as a walk past your bland uninspiring fragrance counter in search of something new.
Stop treating consumers as fools, whilst you continue to dick around our money goes elsewhere and will continue to be spent elsewhere until such time as you finally deliver us something new.
It's time to start creating again.
Have the buttered popcorn strawberry version , don't like the 2010 version and it's a coco mademoiselle copy and this will be the same , so not exciting, boring!
What it really means by couture edition? Is it a limited edition? And sometimes i found that many big brands suddenly launch a limited edition, but then they don't tell you how 'limit' they are? My understanding of a limited edition is below a hundred, each with a serial number... But i think brands are over-using this term!
Nevertheless, i do like the original Miss Dior Cherie!
Does anyone remember The original Miss Cherrie with the buttered popcorn note? That was the best version. The one after that (which is the one most are farmiliar with) was good, not as good but acceptale. This newer version I bought without knowing it was reformulated, and I immediately could tell the difference, so funny that they are now trying to sell off this version that no one wants by throwing in the word ''couture'', and a signature, lol. They really think the liTAL people are stupid! This whole experience is making me rethink purchasing any dior (I also religiously use dior addict, dior addict shine, dior poison hypnotic, and midnight poison), I'm sure if I look I can find as goods if not better than dior's.
In fact I wouldn't mind paying a little bit more if I fealt like the company I was purchsing from was being truthful, and if the bottom line didn't just always translate profit. I realise a corporation such as dior has to make a profit, but this is just prety sad, pathetic even.
Dior got back to me saying the Couture Edition is exclusive to Macys and that the scent has "changed slightly". They said it has been "enhanced". Whatever that means. Ha! : )
I noticed this change too awhile back I was browsing Dior perfumes on macy's.com and I was like uh oh they made a typo lol but then remembered that they're trying to erase all traces of John Galliano from the Dior name and relized what a travesty this name game perfume switching/reformulating mess has become. I have a bottle of MDC from 2010 and the top notes smell like the original except the drydown smells more like Coco Mademoiselle honestly i'm really over MDC and after I finish my current bottle I think i'll be done repurchasing it for a very long time lol
I have just checked the notes on the original Miss Dior - gardenia, galburnum, clary sage and bergamot, carnation, orris root, jasmine, neroli, lily of the valley, rose, narcissus, labdanum, leather, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver. This new Miss Dior has bergamot, orange, mandarin (much more citrus) then jasmine and rose with sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver as base notes. Therefore I can't see how it would be similar to the original Miss Dior or anything like the Miss Dior Cherie 2011 EDP.
It will be interesting to try it as I think it would be quite different to both of these. There are a lot of citrus based perfumes around that are similar so guess it depends on ratio and how it works on your skin. I find the original Miss Dior rather "sharp" and imagine that this recent addition will be softer.
I completely agree with you cheeks:) I tested the new version today and it's the same as miss dior cherie edp 2011. So it just adds to the confusion with all different names and same juice in different bottles. Make up your mind people at Dior!
I'm not going to comment about the name-changing...but scent-wise, this is practically the same scent as Miss Dior Cherie eau de parfum 2011 in the database.
Just with the juice poured into a different LE bottle and the word 'cherie' dropped.
Although this is probably more in the Miss Dior Cherie line, the press clearly states this particular fragrance has been inspired by the 1947 Miss Dior.
I still have yet to know which version I own. I don't know if its the original or the newer version, now with this coming out, it even becomes more confusing.. but I'd love to try it
This is Miss Dior Cherie .....
But they have got rid of the name Cherie,,,
so now Miss Dior Cherie = Miss Dior
This bottle is just the couture version,, i guess limited edition
Smells like the best perfume in the world. It's sophisticated and fun. If you're a fan of Coco Mademoiselle and Juicy Couture then it's almost guaranteed you will love this fragrance! 10/10
I don't find anything confusing about MDCs.All of them are different.Different scents, different bottles,And besides this one is Miss Dior.Love them all.
I have an idea, why don't they instead re-release the original formulation from 2007? Label it Miss Dior Cherie and get rid of all this other stuff?
Come ooooooooooooooonnnnnn! Enoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I mix up! Same bottles, same names, same scents, detailed differences.
WANT IT!!!!
In case you don't know, on the official Dior site, Miss Dior = Miss Dior Cherie. There will be no more MDC , only Miss Dior. Practically Miss Dior Cherie disapperas as a label and turns into Miss Dior. The vintage Miss Dior becomesd Miss Dior Original. It is a mess but this is the truth and soon all perfumeries acros the world will reckon this change. Probably in a few years, most of the people will know only what we know today as Miss Dior Cherie, but under the label Miss Dior . What will happen to the vintage ? Nobody knows, maybe it will go completely too !
Can't wait to try this! I love Miss Dior Cherie (newest version) and also the other flankers, so this is probably also one for me!
Update: I've tried it at a local parfumerie and it smells the same as MDC EDP. Nice, but I don't see the need for this addition.
I thought it was one more miss Dior Chérie version until one member mentioned it is a Miss Dior flanker . Very weird indeed they're using the Miss Dior Chérie bottle desing :-S very confusing ...
