Ormonde Jayne is a small perfumery founded by Linda Pilkington on November 30th, 2002 in London. "Ormonde" is the name of the road where Linda lives and "Jayne" is her middle name. Linda's love for perfumes and their bottles came out of a passionate teenage hobby, ending up in a collection of 2000 pieces. Her approach to fragrances has always been creative. Linda gathered knowledge and applied it first on scented candles and bathing oils. Before she established Ormonde Jayne, she travelled and worked in South Africa, Africa and the Far East, running boutique, hotels, soya farm, and even making exotic, flavored ice creams.

When she came back to London, she made sure for her dreams to come true. Scented candles were her first big success. Nowadays, Ormonde Jayne is the winner of "Brands of Tomorrow 2008" award, organized by The Walpole in Britain. According to Linda: "In creating Ormonde Jayne, my goal was to combine elements which I consider define true elegance: The quality of English craftsmanship, the art of French perfumery and the sensuality and natural harmony of the Orient."

Ormonde Jayne is not just about fragrances; Linda finds bottle design to be very important (elegant ebony and fiery mandarin), as well as the atmosphere of her boutique. All of Ormonde Jayne products are composed of natural oils and absolutes, Linda herself controlling their quality, travelling and comparing materials from around the world, choosing only the best. She gained certitude among perfume lovers thanks to quality of her creations standing aside from trends, and also because of her creative approach to her discoveries. The fragrances, ten of them (two more coming soon) to be precise, embody the special Ormonde Jayne style – soft female touch making them all wearable. Linda, in love with the Orient, uses unusual components and their combinations, compositions developing wonderfully and with a surprisingly precise structure.

After introducing floral fragrances (Frangipani, Osmanthus, Sampaquita, Champaca, Orris Noir and Ta'if), we feel free to conclude that Linda likes vivid flowers which breathe the air of their skies, capture harmony of their original climate, as well as their legends. For example, Sampaquita represents a romantic fantasy composed of various flowers, symbolizing fidelity,
fragileness and loyalty, the virtues that Filipina residents dedicated their national flower Sampaquita to.

Canadian balm (Black Hemlock) represents Linda's first discovery. It is highly concentrated in two of her signature fragrances: Ormonde Man and Ormonde Woman (her first perfume). Its balmy sweet note with dense green and woody nuances is arranged differently in these two fragrances, but it feels sensuous all the same.

Good news for all Ormonde Jayne fans - a boutique in Dubai was opened on November 1st, located in Boutique 1 of Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Atmosphere and design of this new boutique, the first one abroad, will be made a replica of the one in The Old Bond Street in London, its interior designed in October 2006 by Caulder Moore.
