Puredistance I - Idea of Perfect Beauty

Puredistance I - Idea of Perfect Beauty

12/03/08 03:38:52

Puredistance I was created with the ambition of becoming a timeless objet d'art, the quintessence of perfect beauty, inspired by Vienna, the cultural capital of Europe. Puredistance I revives the traditions of the famous Wiener Werkstätte (i.e. Vienna Workshop) – a group of artists and manufacturers that rose to fame in the first half of the 20th century. Wiener Werkstätte's minimalist style meant clean lines, simplicity of form and austere geometric adornments. And yet it was truly luxurious, for the Workshop's members created their masterpieces solely for 'those who could afford it', which was quite unusual regarding the overall tendency to bring the art to the masses.

Puredistance I is a work of art that manages to meld fragrance and its bottle into one unique cultural phenomenon. The heavy crystal flacon made entirely by hand showcases the perfection of the raw material and contains a crystal-clear fragrance that is light and crisp as air.

The seemingly vintage-looking deep golden liquid seems to contradict its transparency yet it is entirely harmonious with the fragrance's quality and exclusivity. Later, the aroma indeed develops deeper, more golden-like nuances.

Annie Buzantian, the perfumer behind Puredistance I, considers it a personal achievement. The complex, very light, almost transparent composition could be compared to a watercolor depicting a beautiful early morning; it is a work inspired by and dedicated to air. The precise, clean structure of the fragrance is in full harmony with the Puredistance I idea – the idea of perfect beauty.

Fresh citrus notes, wet and cold, open the perfume. Each note adds a new facet to the composition without disrupting the overall idea of transparency. Fruity, almost woody nuances of blackcurrant broaden the perspective and the composition clinks just like real crystal and trills like clean air. The complex flower bouquet softens its austerity, colors it in tender pastel shades.

The earthy yet light vetiver and the golden amber shine through its flower petals, giving the composition a certain classic, vintage-y chic that is quite enough to justify the precious liquid's rather dark color.

Without a doubt, Puredistance I was created to give pleasure, a pleasure that is equal to the one we get when touching base with Art. Pure as an immaculate beginning, it would make for a perfect bridal fragrance.

Trying to achieve excellence in every aspect, the creators offer the fragrance in a highly concentrated version – 32% percent extract. A capsule containing 17,5 ml of the precious formula is enveloped in pure crystal.

The quantities are limited: only 2048 flacons decorated in 24K gold were made (list price is 2750 euro) and those in highgrade steel number a mere 4824 and cost 1750 euro. The fragrance capsule can be refilled, the refill price is 165 euro.

You can order this exclusive perfume from its official web presentation. Prices include international shipping and all taxes and duties.

That's the first "originally" Austrian perfume I heard of - sounds very promising. I need to test it when I'm in Vienna the next time!
I was already starting to worry why there is hardly any perfume tradition in Austria - I mean, almost every country has its special perfume houses, especially in Europe. Maybe my country now finally woke up ;-)

I'm sold! This well written article hit me like a lead balloon. Great informative read on this perfume.
165 euros/211.00 US dollars for a 17.5ml spray is way above my price range. I can forgo the gold, crystal and steel decor bottle and settle for a petite sampling of this luxury scent so I ordered a .5ml decant.
A light transparent like composition as zoka described is just what I want. I hope I don't like it too much it's super pricey.

It is very nice scent. Like described in the article:

"The complex, very light, almost transparent composition could be compared to a watercolor depicting a beautiful early morning; it is a work inspired by and dedicated to air."

I totally agree that composition is very precise and harmonic. Well, it is very luxury perfume and I am happy that I had chance to test it.
