Purple Extravagance - Oriflame Amethyst Fatale Perfume

Purple Extravagance - Oriflame Amethyst Fatale Perfume

08/02/08 06:24:14

Oriflame, the Swedish house for direct sales of make up, cosmetics and perfumes, presented their new perfume Oriflame Amethyst Fatale, first in a row of their Gem Collection by renowned pianist Jean Jacques in cooperation with famous perfumer Kurkdjian.
Music and perfumes are created of notes, so Jean Jacques wanted to try to create the fatal perfume for Oriflame.

Amethyst, which is mystical and seductively glittering, was among the most precious gems till large amounts of it were found in Brazil. This is when its value drastically dropped and it is now cheaper that sapphire and ruby.

The purple version of quartz is used for creation of jewelry. It was named after Greek αμεθυστoς (a-methysios meaning "not drunk"), as itwas believed that it protected from alcoholism the one who was wearing this gem.

Rumour has it that it brings good fortune in war and hunt and that it sends away evil spirits and inspires intellect. This gem is a symbol of modesty and cleanser of souls. Amethyst is the lovers' stone. Ancient Romans and Greek made glasses for drinks of amethyst, since the saying goes that they would not get drunk as long as they drink from them. They considered it a blessed gem. They wore it as a decoration on episcopals' rings for thousands of years.

Amethyst widespread as a mineral, but those samples of high quality, which were appropriate for jewelry, were not so easily available. Findings were usually inside volcano rocks, but it can be found in Brazil, Russia, Uruguay and USA nowadays.

The most valuable amethyst is ''deep Russian'', which is extremely rare and its price depends on demand for it. The other name is ''purple extravagance''!

Amethyst is mysterious and intriguing in several ways. One of unsolved mysterious for scientists is its hardness (7), which is uncharacteristic of other sorts of quartz.

Its colour is also interesting. The explanation for it has not been found yet and it is ascribed to natural functioning of radiation with components of iron in quartz itself.

Some of amethyst gems do not glitter during day. This is another unsolved mystery for scientists. Amethyst is used both processed and unprocessed. Elixir is made of it, as well. It is useful to know that cytrine, pink quartz, grey quartz, green quartz, cat eyes quartz, aventurine, tiger eye and stone crystal belong to the same group

An a bit of mythology for the end... The goddess Diana turned the nymph Bacchus was in love with into the gem amethyst. This is where the name Bacchus stone comes from!

Oriflame chose the perfect name for their perfume which they presented last autumn - Amethyst Fatale. They proudly present this chypre composition with a modern twist. This Amethyst is clean, seductively imposing and combined of amber, floral note of iris and elegant rose. The perfume will stay remembered as ungrasped in its character and the name of the gem it carries. It was advertised as a pure perfume poison!
Amethyst Fatale has been available on the market since October 2007. Other edition of Oriflame Gem Collection: Petal Quartz, Diamond Musk.
