Rob Denton, guitarist and perfumer, founded the Robbie VanGogh natural perfume house 2011. He debuted with three eaux de toilette for men: Hemp and Leather, Matau and Ubermensch, which I've enjoyed these days. Robbie is now working on two new fragrances, Blue Nehru and R.V. Homme, which will be available in pure extrait de parfum this fall (2011), as well as the newly reformulated Hemp and Leather.

Rob is an artist. He has been both a studio and performance guitarist and a personal chef for many years. Perfumes became one more language to express ideas and communicate with people. Robbie started with masculine fragrances, and although the gender is not indicated on the bottle, they all carry a romantic masculine spirit from the men's world: adventure, ambition, strength, laughter and provocation.

MATAU	HEMP AND LEATHER	UBERMENSCH
juniper, opopanax, rosewood, vanille, white sage, smoke infusion, guiac, vetiver, manuka, cedar, leather, cypress, patchouli	pink peppercorn, absinthe, wormwood, hemp, tobacco absolute, leather, amber	citrus, anise, lavender, pepper, wormwood, palmarosa, tobacco absolute, vanille, cassia, cedar, leather, amber, cypress
..the inspiration is Hei Matau art and the Maori people of New Zealand...	just imagine kicking back on a dressed out bike in your well worn leather jacket, firing up a smoke	Nietzsche's concept for "an 'over man' who overcomes the herd perspective..."

All RV Fragrances are different, but stay in the borders of the men's universe. Hemp and Leather would comfort those who love the rough, but also homey scent of their own leather jacket soaked with other "homey" scents. A piercing fresh green note in the beginning calms down in a smoky twilight of leather, wood and tobacco nuances. Matau is a warm woody composition, which opens with a stimulating aromatic bouquet of herbs and balms over the smooth woods combined with rough leathery notes in the base. Ubermensch is a warm aromatic composition. The great energy produced by its "strong pumping heart" is balaced by warm nuances of flowers and soft spices, anise and vanilla.

CONTROVERSIAL CANNABIS

Cannabis is among the central ingredients in three RV fragrances: Hemp and Leather and two upcoming fragrances, Blue Nehru and Homme.

"I really enjoy both the fragrance and health properties of this wonderful plant. Blue Nehru is my homage to the sixties, only updated. I really enjoyed the energy and excitement of the sixties, with it's music, radical changes, and civil unrest, and the nehru jacket is such an iconic symbol of that time. That's how the fragrance was born. Blue Nehru will feature cannabis, but will also have some really great notes throughout the dry down. Blue Nehru will be an extrait de parfum, as will R.V. Homme, and the newly reformulated Hemp and Leather. I have always enjoyed working with cannabis oil. It is has such a warm, earthy fragrance, and other benefits as well. Cannabis does have that illicit reputation, which also makes it fun to work with."

Hemp (and the history of the banning of the fibre) is very interesting. Here in Western Australia there are a couple of Hemp Shops that sell clothing and other products. They don't have perfumes though. These fragrances sound interesting, especially the Hemp and Leather and Ubermensch.
