The spring is waking up. It spreads its smells all over around. It leaves traces within us and around us. It sprinkles its romantic dust and makes our hearts beat stronger and happier. We have put our winter coat, shawls and caps aside to wait for the future winds and snows.

Love is in the air, we can feel it...it reflects on people's faces, on the petals of flowers, in the song of birds. The love is growing stronger as the spring is coming...

The spring is particularly celebrated in Japan. The traditional Japanese holiday Sakura celebrates the Day of Cherry Blossom in honor of Japanese cherry, Prunus serrulata. This cherry tree is growing in Japan, Korea and China. It is also called oriental cherry, Eastern-Asian cherry, or simply Japanese Cherry. Japanese Cherry is a small deciduous tree which reaches 8-12 meters of height.

The beauty of Japanese cherry blossom amazes the people of Japan year after year, so they impatiently wait for the buds and petals to appear every spring. Japanese Cherry blossom is white and pink, with 5 delicate petals.

Interesting thing about Sakura is that Japanese people follow the weather forecast up for days before the cherry blossoms in order to forecast the weather for that day. The tradition of cherry blossom celebration was initiated in Heian Period (794–1191). Artists, painters, poets and aristocracy of Japan admired and cultivated it for its beauty.

For Japanese people cherry blossom symbolizes transience of youth, beauty, moment… and life. In China cherry blossom is associated with femininity and female love.

In honor of cherry blossom and tradition, Masaki Matsushima, Japanese creator, launched in 2007 a floral fragrance named Cherry. Cherry is created like a romantic breeze which brings the joy of spring awakening. It is composed of cherry blossom with accords of cassia, watermelon, lotus, lily, raspberry, sweet pea, black currant, and crystal musk. This fragrance captured into a charming bottle adorned with cute red cherries was created by Jean Jacques, and is available as 20ml (0.7 fl.oz.) and 40ml (1.38 fl.oz.) EDP.

Besides this fragrance, beautiful cherry blossom scent can be found in Cherry Blossom, Cherry Blossom Delight, and Cherry Blossom Fruity by Guerlain; Cherry Blossom by L'Occitane, and Japanese Cherry Blossom Eau de Toilette launched in 2007 by The Body Shop.

The spring is coming... remember to smell the air which brings new and beautiful scents!
