Scents of Time by David Pybus

Don't know if any members have seen this range of fragrances:

All of these scents have been created by David Pybus who could be regarded as the real life perfume version of Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. He is the original archaeologist of perfume  David is an acclaimed author as well with 3 books to his name and another is awaiting a publisher.

He studies documents and has analysed ancient perfumes and recreated them for today's perfumista.

His first 3 fragrances are:

Pyxis which is a recreation of a fragrance from Pompeii.  A Mediterranean melange of citrus, fruity herbal head notes softened with a rose-jasmine accord embedded with powdery, sensual notes of incense varieties intermingling with a blend of woody notes.
A combination of flowers and fruits from his garden.

Nenufar, the sacred scent of Cleopatra.
A transparent floral-green blue water lily bouquet, with the pungent aroma of nutmeg rounded by light powdery notes with angelica and almond.

Ankh, Tutankhamen's aroma of intrigue and is based around the notes of sacred Kyphi.

Ankh is a delicate composition of the original blended herbs and resins of Kyphi, with Citrus notes giving a semblance to original camel grass and calamus, spice notes truly reflecting the original formula, and resins, honey and woody notes blending perfectly to evoke that smoky aroma of burning incense. Truly a gift of the Gods and fitting tribute to the boy king Tutankhamen.

He has further fragrances in the pipeline to be launched, but to my mind, the most exciting is Night Star which is a fragrance that was discovered in a case at the bottom of the sea in The Titanic. The Titanic fragrance was originally created by a German perfumer who was based in Manchester called Alfred Saalfeld and he had booked a ticket to New York to promote his fragrances. The case of fragrances never found their way to New York, but luckily Alfred survived.

I have smelt a version of Night Star and believe me, it is wonderful. Look out for it in the next 12 months or so.

In the meantime, look at his site and be amazed by the magic and mystery of the current fragrances.

For those of you who want to buy these fragrances who do not live in the UK, they are available from The British Museum shop.

These fragrances are so unique and intriguing, yet impossible to find any information about these scents. I would love to try Pyxis and Nenufar. By the way, what ever happened to Prince Barry? I miss him! He was so knowledgeable about fragrances past & present ~ and tremendously friendly.

I have yet to experience any of the Scents of Time, although i have a long standing interest in the history of scent.

In the late fall of 2008 David Pybus launched "Maya", an historic New World scent.

From its label:
The scent of Maya has been created for Scents of Time by Colombian perfumer Jorge Lee of Givaudan SA.

Fragrance Family: Soft Oriental

Head Notes: Sweet copal incense, ozonic influences.
Heart Notes: Night-blooming jasmine, verdant foliage, a potpourri of tropical fruits and flowers.
Soul Notes: The aroma of Mexico: cacao (chocolate) beans with pure vanilla extract

According to his website he is no longer involved in developing Night Star...
