The Day when Night is more Seductive

Minus 10 in the city, early morning in Belgrade. Today, on the 21st of December, the shortest day of the year—winter solstice for inhabitants of the northern hemisphere, the city is frozen. Romantic souls who observe winter from their warm homes will like the winter idyll, icicles on the roofs and the glitter of untouched snow. This day has been significant worldwide for centuries. Festivals and rituals celebrated today or a few days after December 21st vary from culture to culture. This day divides seasons of the year in some cultures, while it marks the middle in others.

Solstice—the day when the equator is most inclined away from the Sun—is explained as the return of the Sun to the sky, as a concept of birth, rebirth or purification. It was named after two words: Sun and 'sistere '—to stand, since the Sun stands still. In Greek mythology, Gods and Goddesses allowed the dark underground to be present on Olympus on this very day. In Japanese mythology there is a holiday called Requiem of the Dead—Amaterasu celebration; in Rome and later in England, Christmas; Dongzhi festival is celebrated by Buddhists and East-Asian nations; Karachun is celebrated by East-Slavic as a festival similar to Halloween; Hindu peoples celebrate festival Makara Sankrati; Germanic peoples have Modranicht, while Ziemmasvetki is celebrated by Lithuanians and other Baltic nations. Winter solstice or the shortest day of 2009 in UTC time is at 17.47, today, on December 21st. I was thinking about which perfumes would be appropriate for such a day: dark and silent, cold and distant, peaceful, wild, unrestrained, or by contrast, sunny, warm and festive as an overture to the holidays?

Two editions of sweet and chocolate nights sneak in our encyclopedia. The negative connotations of darkness and cold night melting in the passion of chocolate in this fragrant Bvlgari pair seem to announce the festive days waiting for us. Bvlgari Notte Pour Femme and Bvlgari Notte Pour Homme are my choice for today. Discrete seducers in snowy nights and days, warm and close, seductive and mysterious…

Bvlgari Notte Pour Femme is as mysterious and exciting as night, with a dose of lust; dark and cold at the same time. Chocolate, vodka, ginger, anise, incense and resins cuddle like darkness and intoxicate like a sophisticated cocktail burning with passions. It cools the skin with anise, citruses, vodka and cold spices, and it warms us with resins and chocolate.

Its masculine companion, Bvlgari Notte Pour Homme, is gentle, intimate and calm—just like a genuine man. Its notes, similar to those of the feminine version, make a fragrant balance of warm and cold nuances which accentuate anise, tobacco, neroli, spices, woody notes and warm dark chocolate. They seduce women who feel it on his skin—it will seduce them, surely, I checked it!

I leave further games and suggestions to you.

I wish you pleasant winter and happy and fertile upcoming holidays!
