
In cooperation with publisher Black Dog Publishing, book Roja Dove The Essence of Perfume was introduced in autumn 2008. The book is an illustrated journey through history of perfumes and perfumery, with all glamour and scandals of the industry, and explanations of science on creating the most prominent editions and celebration of great classics.

Historian and narrator Roja Dove introduced an authoritative guide through the world of perfumes through his book The Essence of Perfume in a passionate, truthful and humorous way. The book contains scientific and sociological chapters on history of perfumes, focusing on our notion of fragrances, how we develop it and react on scents, what we choose for ourselves.
Perfume is a part of fashion industry and raw materials and their fragrant characteristics are researched and known. With a review of famous creations since 1889, perfumes in the book are listed in chapters according to decades, with description and social-economic concept. Roja Dove shows improvement of perfumery through time with an important influence of perfumers and descriptions of each edition, as well as celebrities which were important for some editions and their fans.
The book also incorporates photographies of vintage, as well as modern bottles and advertisements which complete the story on perfumery, perfumers, houses signing the editions, and celebrities which are an essential part of art and marketing.
