The Galaxy Collection Extrait de Parfum

11/26/11 09:44:24

By: Elena Knezhevich

CnR Create was established in 2008 in Austria with the idea to offer a scent for every star sign. Galaxy collection is the third collection of the house addressed to women. All CnR Star Sign perfumes have been created by Olivier Funel, a renowned French perfumer with a family tradition going back three generations. He worked in cooperation with inspirational guidance from the in-house  astrologist, Robert Boehm. Galaxy Collection perfumes follow the notes of the first women's collection. The difference is in additional soft floral, balmy and woody touches, and the higher concentration of the juice.

"In the Galaxy Collection, we collaborated with French glass artist Didier Saba to design a series of artistic flacons to represent the scents and their associated star signs. Inspired by the beauty of cosmic colours, based on the four elements earth (green), fire (red), water (blue), air (white), he has created 12 magnificent and unique Galaxy flacons. The Saba family is famous for their traditional technique of incorporating gold leaf, silver, enamel and colour metal oxides in their glass work. Each flacon was hand-made by Mr Saba in Biot, an internationally famous town in the South of France, known for its tradition of glass art."

THE GLASS ARTIST

The perfumes will be available online from mid-December 2011 in hand-made flacons of 30 ml extrait de parfum, with the authenticity certificate and perfume guidebook.

12 FRAGRANCES FROM GALAXY COLLECTION

AQUARIUS

The flacon used for the Aquarius fragrance is dominated by the color purple. Purple represents creativity and uniqueness, traits which are especially attributed to star sign Aquarius and to its ruling planet, Uranus.

PISCES

The Pisces flacon links the watery element of this zodiac sign, represented by the color blue, with purple, the color of the spirit and spirituality. The gold colored inclusions penetrate the blue and purple, flowing into each other and underlining the exceptional nature of this sign.

CAPRICORN

The Capricorn flacon combines the green of this earth sign with energetic and invigorating red/ pink tones. Women born under the sign of Capricorn stand with both feet on the ground, symbolized by the green tones. Energetic reds represent Capricorn's ability to contribute sensuality to the interior world and to beguile the world around them.

TAURUS

The flacon for Taurus creates a symbiosis between the green of this earth element, the warmth and joy of orange and the delicacy of pink. Taurus women are characterized by intimate feelings, and give strength and a sense of well-being to those in their presence.

CANCER

Cancer's flacon represents the composition with varied shades of blue whose dynamic flow is adorned with golden elements, not unlike the diverse and often mysterious landscape of a Cancer woman's soul. Both the width of the bright sky, and the unfathomable depths of the sea are found in the emotional world of a Cancer woman.

ARIES

The flacon for Aries captures the vivacity, exuberance and affirmation of Aries women with intense orange. The distinctive hue that recalls the glow of an intimate fire that reflects the strong passion of this fire sign. No other star sign can match the dynamic power and diversity of Aries.

GEMINI

The Gemini flacon combines the lightness of heart with the love of the White Rose. Gemini women are diverse in their being and their interests, but they connect and captive with the ease of a colorful butterfly.

SAGITTARIUS

The flacon for Sagittarius is distinguished by its dark reds, which are beneficial for willpower and determination, as well as intense emotional power, romance, and positive, open emotions. In the dark of the bottle, both the fire of powerful femininity and the nature of romantic love are united.

LEO

The Leo flacon is composed of orange and deep red color elements. The orange radiates self-confidence, an important trait of Leos, while the mystical dark reflects the passioninherent in the Leo woman.

SCORPIO

The flacon for Scorpio combines the deep blue of the sign's water element with red tones, which indicate the particular eroticism of this sign. The enchantment and seduction of a Scorpio woman escapes almost no one.

LIBRA

White dominates the Libra flacon. This color exudes the elegance and delicacy balanced in Libra women. The golden hues, which are attached to the white, stand for the wisdom and inspiration assigned to this air sign.

VIRGO

The flacon designed Virgo's fragrance combines in its various shades of green color of this earth sign. Equally varied are the facets that women who were born in this sign possess. The color green promotes their own well-being and also symbolizes the natural dignity inherent in Virgo.

Oh dear, I'm soooo excited!
Thank you for this great gift! I just hope I'll be of any use in describing the scents to other Fragrantica usesrs, so they will know which sign they are- or even find themselves in the one they are supposed to.
Thank you for this opportunity to test something, that isn't mainstream and made only to have its 5 minutes of fame and cash in as much money they can. I do believe this whole concept will stand the test of time.
Otherwise I don't have the means and money to research niche perfumery, and this will be a very special event for me.
Congratulations to the other three winners too. And I wish that the rest of fragrantica members will soon get the same opportunity as 'the very happy' me.

Being a Scorpio, I was drawn to the colors that make up the Scorpio bottle. It is so true that these two different colors make up the sign. Sometimes I want to relax and let the elements swallow me up(that would be blue). At other times I feel powerful and full of aggressive emotion(that would be red). The notes are interesting in this perfume because like the Scorpio, we have a soft beauty(that of flowers) & a heightened sensual prowess.

Wouldn't it be nice to get hold of one as a Xmas treat!! Better i save up, or... ask my better half to buy one for me! This is on top of my fragrance gift list for this Xmas for sure.

If i have the luck of winning the vial samples... woohhh, then it will really make me the HAPPY!

Thanks Elena for this wonderful article and presentation.

This whole concept only further cements why the world of fragrance is so beautiful and still talked about largely today. Being a Taurean and a male, I still can't help but feel drawn in by the idea of a fragrance being constructed around my Starsign. I think the bottles and their colour combinations reflect and compliment the starsigns and their descriptions beautifully. For me it only justifies how much i invest into fragrances and how much time i take to get to know a fragrance...note by note..touching and feeling the bottle...feeling the scent envelope me in my state of dreaminess. I can't help but wonder...how it would feel to have Taurus laying on my skin- will the connection i feel right now to the sight of this fragrance be as strong as i imagine it will be when its beautiful liquid touches down onto my skin and i become united with the fragrance that charts out my destiny...my birth and my fascinations.

Having a fragrance in one's collection with a star sign is just wonderful, however, I don't believe in astrology as such but love reading Astroscentology. As I see the colour green for Virgo and this colour represents earth and in the science of Chakra it represents heart so I think when they meet it creates something positive.

A great idea. Just a brilliant performance! I am shocked by these bottles! I know - many are skeptical of astrology, especially when it comes to smells! After all, every scent is very individual! But I (Aries - by horoscope) has looked at the Perfume Pyramid of "my" scent and I can tell - these components are very interesting for me!
I am dreaming of owning them all also!

wow..., they are absolutely stunning flacons. Probably the most beautiful collection I've ever seen. I know their standard collection, my friends and I tested a few samples. Very nice fragrances. Not as exegerating/strange as some of the niche samples I tested in the past.

I love niche perfumes, but i always have to test their samples before buying. Some of them are simply unwearable...! Sometimes i wonder if the perfumer is thinking of perfumes or thinking about poison portion! But CnR's, they are beautiful wearable fragrance.

Wonder how much will one of these gorgious galaxy flacon cost? But they won't be available until mid December... really want to get hold of one now!

I would be really happy to try samples of their Galaxy collections...

Wish myself and everyone good luck!

We all are now skeptical about the zodiac signs, their meanings, even though for centuries great war leaders and crazy rich people felt they were obliged to have their own astrologist in the house.
I was born right in the middle of the two signs - Leo and Virgo. I always wanted to be more like a Leo, but I turn out to be more like a Virgo. Can we choose our sign or everything is already predetermined for us?
This time, looking at these gorgeous flacons, I would sign up under any of those astrological signs just to hold one of these flacons in my hands!
I think the Virgo bottle perfectly matches Virgo personality, I always imagined it to be green; as purple is perfect for Aquarius. But my favorite bottle is Aries - its magnetic orange color is simply amazing.

Astrology has as much common with science, as alchemy has. It has absolutely no power to predict. Actually we are talking about constellations of stars, which are not really existing, when you look at them in 3D. They are at different distances. It's like you would observe a shadow of a tree and think you actually know something deeper about the tree. Another thing is the fact that there are 13 Zodiacal 'signs' up there. Their rising and descending time changes through time. And not to mention- there are so many more astrologies or concepts like this, which all use the same technique of predicting personalities, but with different objects and with different time scales. Our astrology uses months and hours as the building block, describing it with Zodiac names, but some use trees as description tools for personalities, others use years and hours and animals for description, and so on. And they have nothing in common, except for the personality types they are describing, but you do not need this pseudoscience to describe them. Common sense and a refined eye for personality detail plus the need to put things into order, pattern and concept, are enough.
As a child I even did natal charts by hand. Always loving Mathematics, Physics and the Cosmos, it was a natural thing for me to try. But it is only wishful thinking.
As mentioned, it's about personality types. You can put everybody in a box, if you want. And because all of us have all kinds of personality aspects, you can easily identify with any of the boxes actually. It's a combination of you and your enviroment, which one will flourish most. Even the field of activity isimportant in the evaluation. You can be emotinal an senstitive at home, but be edgy and bossy at job, for example. So now- what are you: a pisces at home and ad Leo/Capricorn at job? Of course not. All the time you are all the variations-we are multidimesional, we do not need ascendents and millions of constellations to fill up the whole picture and properly match it to our persona.
This said-we do have a predominating sum of all these aspects. During life it can change, but usually it is a slow, graduate one. And because each of us can choose a box or archetype, which fits the most-the concept of making boxes is a common thing to do, all throughout our history. That's why astrology stays with us for so long. Alchemy didn't have this appeal to have the same faith.
So I think perfumes can be and are made as 'personality concepts'. If you are open to the truth, you will search through the ingridients, not the Sign names- and may even find an unexpected outcome. But do not worry- THIS is you :)
And not to forget colour here, my almost favourite candy for my senses- its value and character is again a mix of you and the culture you are living in. Blue used to be a babygirl colour and pink the babyboy colour not even 100 years ago. Pink and fuchsia are manly colours in some Asian regions for example. White can be a funeral colour, red, yellow and purple also. And so on. So my advise: pick the colours you love, not the ones you are told to ;)
Now for this collection as such: wonderful bottles, delightful colours and the ingridients are so very promising too. I think there is more than just a good chance of finding a matching scent.

While I am not a big believer in star signs, I think it is a great idea to create a perfume for each one. The colored glass flacons then take this one step further, much to my liking - I have always associated perfume (and smell in general) and color, and I think it is great when a perfume looks like it smells.
And while I initially went for the "fire" sign perfumes, now that I looked at these bottles I think I am more tempted by the "water" ones ;)
Would love to have the opportunity to test all of them, and get to choose my sign this time around :))

The zodiac is a celestial coordinate system or an ecliptic coordinate system. I like and believe in Astrology and their concepts. Scientifically and Psychologically these star signs have some importance and provides some useful details after a good calculation. Each and every man and women have a particular sign and this is related to their future and past life also (Astrological view). I hope it's a fascinating idea to match up scents to personality.
I like star sign concepts very much. Bottles are very beautiful and very particular.....i think this is first time. Great Idea and i m salute to CnR Star Sign perfumes for a beautiful and very creative idea. I'd love and like to try all of these out. In India, where Astrology is well famous, these star sign perfumes demands should be much.
Thanks

In every small rumor there is a grain of truth...this way I can describe my attitude to zodiac signs. There must be a reason why Leos are so fiery and Libras are balanced. Interesting is why horoscope gain such a big popularity in the world. People like to mach themselves to defined patterns where they can find any regularity and predictability (we search it so strongly as such complex beings), in the midtime increasing and pointing individual features. Through expression of colors, smells, sounds and associations of symbols, making oneself can become an art. Art of living and art of beeing ourselves. I love the concept of cosmic colours in bottles. They look like clouds of stardust indeed...Watching single bottle, follow the tracks of entangled colors is like touching diffrent story already. This collection gave us an opportunity to strenghth our features by colors and smells, also by all those associations coming from perception...
Ok,now me and my eyes go to surf on a Cancer bottle waves :)(oh my! I have nothing against drowning inside ...)

I usually do not care about the bottles because for me the juice is what concerns me the most but I have to appreciate the craftmanship that was put into making these bottles.
I am born on the 26th of July and I really like the colour of the bottle (Leo). Since the primordial element is fire, I must admit that that colour captures very well the image of flames, furthermore that red reminds me, I do not know why, of a sad, melancholic susnet, a sun that disappears to the eye, a sun that is dying, only to reborn more powerful the next day.

I've always been astonished by the art around glass. It's wonderful how the artists transform liquid fire into beautiful jars, flacons, plates, figures...
The flacons in this line are really beautiful. I specially like the one for Cancer (my sign). The notes sound appealing too!

I have always tought that I'm a textbook Cancer person. I can identify with everything I read about the Cancer personality. It's so curious!. However, it's hard for me to believe that our personality is marked by the stars the moment we are born. Why not the moment we are conceived?

Color, fragrance and sound invokes both the individual and collective unconscious harmony and unity of heart, mind and spirit.

Perhaps there is a link between personality traits and star signs, but I always wonder if this is not learnt behaviour as opposed to inherent one.
So, is a Leo person feisty, flamboyant and expansive by nature, or like this almost by symbiosis?

Previous attempts at matching fragrances with my astrological sign have resulted in a set of notes I did not find appealing at all, so I would be curious to see what CnR Create have come up with.

On a side note, it is great to see two creative individuals uniting their skills.
These bottles are certainly quite something!

I was (emphasis on WAS )really fascinated by astrology in my teen years and I've read all there was about the subject! I admit I still get curios when seeing articles like this, but I don't quite ignite at the mere thought as much as I used to.

While I do think that some traits are common for all zodiac signs there is still the aspect of ones individuality that has to be considered! There aren't two individuals that portrait the same characteristics and uniforming all is not for me. I tend to break the mold-the Leo in me wants to shine by itself, not share the stage:D

This collection and the fragrances sound sidereal and truly magical. And correlating the bottle color to the planet of each sign is a unique concept, I wouldn't mind owning the Leo bottle.

On the one hand, I do not believe in star signs, but on the other... My aunt deals a lot with astrology, and a few times she gave me advice as for friendship based on star signs... and you know what, they were very accurate. I am not going to lie I also think that the description of my star sign matches my personality a lot, though that just might be a coincidence :) So why I take the whole thing with a pinch of salt, there is definitely something there!

That being said- I love the notes for my sign (some of my all time favourites are there, including tuberose, dates and vanilla), and I love the colour, so perhaps it is meant to be?

In the case of star signs, I guess you mean more or less sun signs. I believe that everyone sun signs overlaps a bit with other signs on the horoscope. A lot of what you're like depends of course on your surroundings, and yes I think in many cases the time and date you're born along wit your sun sign can affect that.

I'm a Sagittarius, and I do like the bottle, and love the color red. So for me that was spot on. But I think that the stars have little to do with your favorite fragrance though its an interesting concept. (if a study has been done on that I'd love to read it!)

The flacons are of course ridiculously gorgeous. I guess those aren't in the draw huh?

Nonetheless, I would be curious about what the scents smelled like, and would be interested in being put in the draw for them.

I also don't believe in star signs etc., but I was always intrigued with them because I love the greek myths behind them and the classification with the 4 elements.

I don't know why, but things like that appeal to me.
I see myself writing about the myths when sampling the scents and would love to have that chance. they are not only star signs, they all have a serious story behind them.

star signs are as unique as I am as a person (not conceited, I'm just not like anybody else especially not with the age of 23).
the stars always fascinated mankind because it's something far away, unable to touch and understand, always a miracle.

Because of the unique composition of the fragrance notes I believe this distant feel and hidden secret what stars and star signs are all about could be well incorporated by the perfmeur (I hope I'm not wrong).

the colors of the bottles are really pretty and powerful, they symbolize each element perfectly and bring out the different aspects of each element like a caleidoscope brings out different shapes and colors. they radiate and shine (at least on the pictures) and don't seem to fall flat even with the more set back, earthy tones.

originally I only thought about testing Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Pisces, Aquarius and Virgo (because the notes are the most interesting), but after reading about this contest I just let my thoughts flow and wrote this review and hope I'm lucky enough to get a set of samples to write down what I imagine would be good stories to join the fragrances along.

I think that the flacons match the personality of the elements associated with each sign and I think that the fragrances do too.

I actually don't believe in astrology as a Theory of Personality. I only do scientifically evaluated theories backed by data.

This collection sounds very exciting! The bottles are absolutely divine and I imagine that the fragrances inside them are just as exquisite. I do believe that astrology can be used to determine one's personality, although instead of only going by the sun sign, one must also take into account their moon sign, rising sign, and a sign for each planet at the time of their birth! My sun sign is Gemini, and I feel that the description given for the Air Gemini fragrance is very accurate. I indeed have very diverse interests, and like to try everything! I suppose that is why I strive to have a huge collection of fragrance samples, rather than a few full-sized bottles. However, I would love to get my hands on a bottle of Air Gemini ;)

From my extensive research on astrology as a teen, I must also say that the colors, scents, and descriptions associated with the other signs are pretty accurate. For example, Capricorns are known to have their "feet on the ground" while Scorpios are highly sexual. Each sign is also associated with a certain planet, or the sun in Leo's case, or the moon in Cancer's case. Using Fire Leo as an example, the orange and red bottle filled with an elixir of citrus and warm spices embodies the spirit of the sun. I would love the chance to smell every fragrance in this collection to see just how they capture the personality of their assigned zodiac sign.

Wow, I just read over my star sign (Libra) and I think it is perfect. The notes perfectly describe scents and qualities that appeal to me. It's interesting that my color is white seeing as I only wear white florals in my fragrances. Though I don't follow star signs and astrology, I have a fascination with them. It's nice to think that we can read our destinies in the stars, though I don't hold much stalk in actually looking. I'd love to try all of these out. I think it's a fascinating idea to match up scents to personality. I'm wondering just how spot on these are. Good luck to all the participants!

It's interesting to me that my sign, Sagittarius, is always described as being outdoorsy, but I am definitely not. However, when it comes to scents my greatest loves are always the green, woody and mossy notes. Perhaps they ground me, because a detailed astrological reading based on birth time and location has shown a surprising lack of earth in any of my houses.
I'd be delighted to sample these and try these on my friends -- a couple of very similar Sagittarians and a number from other signs.
The flacons are exquisite -- I love art glass and have two beautiful flacons in cobalt, the deep yet glowing serenity of which I often meditate on.
Thanks for the generous draw opportunity.

Capricorn too,shake hands.Absolutely true!!
Capricorn stand with both feet on the ground, sure able to contribute sensuality to the interior world and to beguile the world around them (don't like to talk alot about myself..)
i also find myself very romantic so i instantly checked Sagittarius, and yes,i found romantic women there!!(born in 21 December,i see my astrological info in both signs).
*About color: for my surprise i always get compliment and great complexion when i wear Dark Red or Dark Green, knowing that i don't really prefer to wear those 2 colors(prefer them for furniture more)but they really do magic for me!!
*about perfume,in Capricorn,i didn't yet tried any perfume that has Angelica as a note, maybe this is the mysterious component i'm still searching for in every perfume i use?!for my surprise in Sagittarius i found another note not yet tried:Heather.i'm getting too curious about those two notes.for the rest of the notes i just love them all.
*About the bottle: every single small beauty is really a piece of art!! just like little treasures found in an old wooden box way deep down in the ocean, guarded by little mermaids like fairytales..each bottle tells a different story about where it has come from. 3D painting as if the picture is flowting inside the bottle!
*The cap:the fume is so vibe and yet fresh, turns around inside the bottles like a magic potion, catched from escaping out,by tiny little guardian angels, fairies or birds,or maybe a new kind of guardian never seen by human.
Am i that romantic or what??!!i think i'm sagittarius.
Sorry for the long review,i'm just writing what i saw and felt.

Oh, ivyheel, I like your perspective!
That way you can justify to own all of them. I haven't looked at it that way but it makes perfect sense.
Btw, I have just looked up "my" scent: I think it could be a match. :)
It contains just one note I do not really love or care for much but everything else is spot on.
I have now gone that far that I have looked up my husband's scent and have wondered if he'd like it if he was a woman.

I'm not really in astrology but have my 'own theory' of star signs. I think the time we spent in our mother's belly determines our very inner personality. So if she got lots of sunshine and happiness or were in depressed mood we 'knew' it and it lives on in our person. In any way soever I love green and red tones and I think I'm standing on the ground with both feet (Capricorn) - exception: if there is a perfume store around:)).

I am not one to keep up with astrology and my birth sign, as I am mostly attracted to certain fragrances based on mood. However, I can definitely see myself wearing these 12 fragrances during their corresponding times of year, and I like the fact that one in particular was meant to be my perfect match! I think the bottles of this collection are lovely and treasures in and of themselves.

This is an intriguing concept - a set of astrological fragrances for women (and a set for men, separately).

I'd be fascinated to find out whether I was predisposed to select my sign's scent ahead of any of the others. Reading the notes on the company's own site, some of the other signs' scent combinations seemed more to my taste but, of course, it is how the scent is put together that matters. I'd love to find out!

Beautiful colours for the glass flacons, and striking designs. The company website presentation looks very good, and it will be fascinating to see how their astrological scent concept works out over time.

These scents sound mesmerizing. What a unique concept to align our own personal sign with compatible scents. As a Virgo married to a Pisces, I understand about the marriage of the planets, through my marriage of earth sign and water sign, total opposites. How refreshing to think that we can harmoniously blend with all the signs, on a perfume level, especially during this time of Mercury in retrograde. Please consider me for the giveaway and thank you for the insightful article.

Good luck to everyone!
I think this collection is FABULOUS
I am dreaming of owning them all... (but don't tell the astrologer, please!).
If they had made unisex fragrances, I'd have bought 6 of them for me and my husband straight away.
Either way... I don't believe in astrology as a science and I don't believe in matching colours to one's date of birth.
But I am sure the scents and descriptions will be a match with many, many people's characters and skins.
Again, good luck to everyone!
